First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
Okay, after much deliberation and many changes, I think I have a pretty good idea of my trip itinerary. I need some feedback since this is my first time ever going to Disney World and I am hoping I made good choices. So thus, the plan...
Cast: Me (21 yrs) and my sister (17 yrs) Resort: Port Orleans-Riverside (first two nights), Coronado Springs--water view (last 4 nights)--Both booked with the AP discount June 21 Flight arrives at 2:30--using the Magical Express Possible AK EMH depending on how we feel and what time we get there June 22 Magic Kingdom Day! 8:05 am ps at Crystal Palace MK EMH Evening June 23 Epcot 7:20 ps at Rose and Crown, but may cancel if we decide to just snack around the world because everything sounds soooo good. Epcot EMH Evening June 24 MGM Studios 4:10 ps for Fantasmic Dinner at Hollywood and Vine June 25 Possibly AK if we don't get there on our arrival day--park hop depending on crowds AK EMH Morning 6:20 ps for O'hanas SpectroMagic and Wishes after dinner June 26 No plans yet--looking for ideas June 27 Last day for sister--probably spend the morning at MK 11:10 ps at Chef Mickey's Get sister on Magical Express and be to the Dolphin by 3:00 pm for the start of a business conference June 28-July 2 Business Conference at Dolphin Evenings are usually free so need some good ideas for evening plans and dining July 3 My last day--flight leaves at 5:30 pm, so I will probably hit the MK one last time before I leave (or another park, depending on what I decide my favorite is )So that's the plan so far, but I obviously have a bunch of free time to fill in. So drop some suggestions please. Also, is it awkward to go to sit-down restaurants solo? I have a bunch I want to try (i.e. Ohanas, Boma, etc.), but don't know if it would be really strange. My sister is pretty picky, so I don't want to waste the money on something she won't eat (like seafood), so I thought of going to these places once she leaves. Is it pretty common to have solo diners at these places? One other thing--during my business conference, I am a presenter at a formal awards banquet. It's super fancy and I am looking for a salon to get my hair done at. What are my options on property since I won't have a car to get off-property. Thanks for your help! ![]()

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
DO NOT CANCEL ROSE AND CROWN....you will regret it..it is the BEST rest. at wdw and anywhere else in the world...plus the Illuminations view is breathtaking! Trust me..snacking around the world is fun...but you never want to pass up a trip to the R and C...
I THINk...but dont quote me..that the Grand Floridian has a hair salon..but be prepared to spend a pretty penny... I tend to always shy over Animal Kingdom and regret it--so make sure to give it ample time!!

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
So far your plans look great. Have you thought about 'Ohana for June 25th? We really like it and it's just a hop from the MK if you decide to spend the evening there.

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
Your trips looks very well planned out. I think it's great to have a lot of 'free" time built into your schedule to fill in as you go.
I believe the Yacht & Beach Club has a hair salon also.

My DW has used the hair salon at the Grand Floridian twice (both times for Victoria&Alberts) and I don't think it was super expensive, I think it was a fair price and she loved it each time

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
What kind of ticket do you have? Can you park-hop?
The reason I ask is that MK can be very busy on an EMH day and since you'll be there so early in the morning, you might want to consider hopping over to Epcot for a mid-day excursion and an early dinner at Le Cellier (Canada) or San Angel (Mexico) then you can take the monorail back to MK to see Spectromagic and the Fireworks. Just a thought.

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
Yeah, I am definitely excited (perhaps that is why I am on DC instead of sitting in my economics class falling asleep
). I have been to Disneyland countless times, but never Disney World. I can't wait!

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
Cool!!
On the 26th, Sunday, you should go to a water park first thing. Then, around mid-day, you can figure out what to do. Head beack to the resort to chill... go to AK to see the Jammin Jungle Parade if you haven't already seen it... maybe hang out at DTD and grab dinner there... do some shopping... or maybe have a nice dinner at one of the upscale places like California Grille or Narcoosee's.. and then catch another viewing of Wishes at MK.. The options are ENDLESS!!!! ![]()

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
You and your sister should definetly do O'Hana. Yes they have shrimp (which by the way it too die for) but they also have pork, steak and turkey. My family LOVES IT! My DD (4 1/2) even loves it! We ordered her chicken fingers but she didn't touch them she ended up eating the steak! Have a great time and don't forget the trip report when you get back!

Re: First-Ever WDW Vacation Plans
When you go to O'Hanas, remember that there are two "areas" and depending on what you like, you'll want to ask for one or the other.
During the dinner, there's a fair amount of commotion with games and stuff for the kids. It's very fun, but I would imagine that it could be annoying/distracting for those who aren't in the mood. So, when you check in for your PS, let the host/hostess know that you'd like to sit close to the entertainment, or far away, depending on your mood. O'hanas is a definate must do for your first trip. You'll love it.
