Teva sandals?

I'm looking for comfortable walking shoes for my kids when we go to WDW in June. I've read acouple of posts that mentioned Teva sandals. I checked out their website and found a kind called phsycho or something like that. Are these a good choice? My daughter also likes flip flops and I saw some of those for $15. The other ones were $30 but I'm all for getting them if they're worth it.
Any suggestions?

Re: Teva sandals?

I would avoid flip flops, just for the sake that the evil coefficient of friction is gonna work against ya..

TEVA makes GREAT sandals with good traction, especially on wet surfaces, which should be your greatest concern..

Re: Teva sandals?

I don't know, last trip I thought I had some great Rockport sport sandals, but got blisters the first day. My recommendation (which no young girl will follow) is a good pair of running shoes. Also, bring moleskin, it's a godsend.

Re: Teva sandals?

I've never had a problem with flip flops, but then again, I practically live in them. I have no idea what Teva is, so I can't help you there. I would choose whatever their everyday shoes are. Those are usually fully broken in to a comfortable point.

And Experiment, I never noticed your location! I have friends from Tutuila. Spent about 6 months traveling around AS with them a few years ago. Loved it!

What the heck is moleskin? I keep hearing people talk about it, but I have no clue. I know this is something I should really already know about...

Re: Teva sandals?

Here are the sandals I got my kids. They are water proof and very comfy. I just got them yesterday and DD wore hers all day today and she said they felt great. I wanted to get them a month before we go so they had time to break them in.

My kids always wear stride rite and I know they can wear these all day every day all summer long and they will hold up. I also wanted something waterproof so they can play in the EPCoT fountains when we are at WDW next month.

Moleskin!! From Google.

No those tiny rodents did not volunteer their backs for the sake of medicine. Rather it is a tough, soft cloth-like material on one side and an adhesive pad on the other side. There are two types you might hear of, moleskin and molefoam. The only difference in the two is the thickness, molefoam is thicker than moleskin.
For moleskin to do its job, it must be used properly. For the basic blister, cut a square of moleskin slightly larger than the blister. Now comes the tricky part, you must cut a hole the size of the blister in the square. One way to do this easier is to fold the square in half and cut along the fold, like making a paper snowflake. Pull the white covering from the adhesive side and place the moleskin over the blister with the blister in the hole. The adhesive usually doesn't hold very well, so you might want to add some athletic tape to help hold it in place.

Prevention is the second function of moleskin. If you feel a hotspot (a place on your foot that is being rubbed by your boot) you can cover it with moleskin. This reduces the irritation that your boot causes when it rubs this spot. The physics behind moleskin is very simple. A blister occurs from your boot rubbing against your skin. When you place moleskin around the blister, you are making the area around the blister to be the same height as the blister. This reduces the rubbing on the blister. If the blister is taller than the moleskin, you can place multiple layers of moleskin on to attain the desired height.

MoleSkin is a material very close in look and feel of Ultra Suede, and comes in a multitude of colors. You can find it next to Dr. Scholls stuff in the stores.

Re: Teva sandals?

If someone has good luck walking around WDW in sandals, pleeeeeease tell me what kind of sandals they are! I'm going to look into the Teva sandals, definitely.

I am a sandal fanatic...can't stand to have my feet stuck in tennis shoes more than necessary ...(you can imagine that winter in AK has been quite annoying in that regard.) Last summer I wore flip-flops around Disneyland so much, I had open sores on the tops of my feet and in between my toes. But I just HATE getting weird tan lines from wearing tennis shoes in WDW! And they make my feet sweat.

Re: Teva sandals?

Tevas are definitely my choice for sandals or flipflops. I have both types of Tevas and I have never had such comfortable footwear. I wear them everyday around campus, rain or shine, and they work perfect in any type of weather.

Re: Teva sandals?

I used to be a Teva diva but now I am all about my Merrells. Some of you may know Merrells from the amazing hiking shoes that they make. (Also great for WDW.) I generally wear orthotics in my running shoes etc so a lot of sandals are just to flimsy. Merrells have great arch supports and they have several straps to hold them in place but never seem to rub etc.

Re: Teva sandals?

One of my favorite foot care hints is to use spray-on antiperspirant on your feet at WDW. Keeps your feet from sweating, reduces the chance of getting blisters. Works great!

I LOVED my Tivas last summer at WDW. I bought them specifically for the trip because I wanted sandals that would give me support. I searched high and low at stores because I just have to try shoes on before I buy them. I got the http://www.teva.com/Apparel_Detail.a...2&sc=8&g=women
They were perfect. If the did get a bit wet they dried out with no problems.

I look at the Tiva for kids you mentioned. It seems like that Psyclone would be great! (I my 4yr old was in the stroller a lot and funny I did not even worry about his shoes He never complained, though )
