A ruling came down from the California Supreme Court today that would allow families to sue Theme Park Operators who operate rides that injure or kill passengers. The lawsuit was brought to court by a family who had a 23 year old woman that was part of the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland in 2000. (Anyone know what that is?? Is it similar to the stunt show in WDW?)

That's really awful that they can sue the individual person. Doesn't that open up a whole new slue of lawsuits? People will be sueing the individual person at a restaurant, and individual person in any service industry. Nobody is safe.
It's ridiculous. |

Re: New News Article related to Disney
Interesting to hear about this--thanks, disneyguy.
It's a bit of a surprise to me because I thought the law was pretty well-established about protecting entertainment venue operators from risk for any eventwhere people buy a ticket for admission. As I understand it, the classic example is the baseball park, where you cannot sue the park owner if you get injured by a foul ball. If I remember right, buying and using the ticket indicates that you accept any reasonable risk from the event(ride) itself. Any lawyers, law professors, or judges on DC that could shed some light on this? DT
