What brings you back?

We all love our WDW and DL. That's obvious by the number of trips we all take and how much planning we put into our trips. What exactly brings you back over and over again? It's like home to me. The peace and relaxation and the sheer magic of WDW brings me back over and over again. I like being able to turn back time and feel like a kid again getting excited over the characters and riding my favorite attractions. Where else can a grown woman wear a Goofy hat and still manage not to look like a dork? Where else can one skip and look "normal"... ? I don't know exactly what it is when I am there...it's no one certain thing, but the atsmosphere of the place that makes me want to return. It's filled with excitement and laughter. I was thinking about this as I tried to sleep last night and it made me wonder if there was one certain thing or a number of things that made you all keep returning. I saw a commercial for Bush Gardens in Virginia and my DD asked to go there next summer. I looked at her and said " we can't go there and WDW" She immediately changed her mind about Bush Gardens and said "forget it" lolol

I think for me there is just so much there that makes me smile...how could I resist? I guess I'm a happyness junky, lol. We have been to Bush Gardens and Universal and Sea World...but the only place we keep going back over and over and over is WDW. I think it's the total experience that keeps us coming back, not one thing. It seems like each time we go its for a different reason .....or do I mean excuse :)

Although we visit many amusement parks, WDW is different. Our family is so happy and peaceful there. My kids don'[t even fight when we go to Disney. There is just something about the overall atmosphere that makes me want to keep going back. To be honest, we like the rides better at Universal, but we always spend twice as much time at Disney because we like the family atmosphere and the theme overall much better. I can be a kid again too and noone looks at me like I am a dork. I enjoy rushing around to do this and that and being completely excited with my kids about eating with the characters or riding our favorite rides. We wil continue to go back for years to come because we love going to the happiest place on earth.

It's an easy question- because I am happy there! At Disneyland I am happy and excited and I am home. I have wonderful memories of that once a year family trip as a child (and we were only 15 minutes away!), my "teenager" trips when we were so cool and danced at Videopolis, my Grad night trip where I first discovered that I really got along with someone who is now one of my absolute best friends (and we saw the guy who looked EXACTLY LIKE Billy Idol!!!

).

I think of my dad saying, "Okay, this time we're not going to rush through the park. I want to saunter down Main Street holding hands with your mother." I think of my first time on Space Mountain with my oldest friend, and my first time on the teacups with her and of how her one-of-a-kind (and now passed away) father spun our 9 year old selves faster than we thought it was ever possible to go.

I think of the time I stood with other good friends on the balcony off the gallery, surveying the land and dreaming our dreams. I think of the pack of drama camp kids we brought there every year, how we always had to go on Pirates first

, and how we'd hand out lyric sheets to all the kids so they could sing the Pirates song while we stood in line.

I think of my husband trying to find the words to ask me to marry him while we had a spaghetti dinner on Main Street.

(Closed now. Ah, well.). I think of standing in line for Roger Rabbit later that night, so tired, barely able to stand after a really long day, and just thinking, "I'm going to marry him."

Disneyland has my best memories. How could I not be happy there? How could I not go back?

It's my favorite place to just forget about the reality of every day life. I don't have to think about the laundry, what to cook, bills to pay, etc. When I drive through the gates of WDW, even if I am only stopping at DTD, I leave the rest of the world behind.

it's the only place where the payoff is better than the planning!!
I can spend months planning a trip to New York, California etc. etc..but when we get there it's not always exactly how I pictured it..with Disney I know it's different...
I get the most of my money there, i get nice accomidations and excellent dining options..and even if something did go wrong i could just go to MK and have it all just go away...plus i love rides.

I am with Crackerbella up there. I know exactly what to expect. Everything is so beautiful in the resorts, I can take a deep breath and be transported into an atmosphere that makes me feel happy. I love all of the smells and sounds of MK. All I have to think about there is what fun thing to do next or do I just want ot be lazy by the pool. There is just no place like it. If I could I would spend all of my available vacation time there...

...and I KNOW that when my sons are off to college, in 8 years, I will go and find a job there, even though I do not like the heat!~

I agree with what others have said. I love the atmosphere, the rides, the fact that I can always be a kid there. My dad still loves to go because when he's there he "doesn't have to think about anything!". There isn't anyplace in the world like a Disney park. My friends think I am crazy for going as much as I do, since I really never go anywhere else. They ask me when I am going to get tired of it... and the answer they get? NEVER!

For me it is as others have said - You can walk through those gates and sluff off all responsibilty as an adult in a working society. I'm instantaneously happy and giddy. There is a feeling you get that just leaves you without a care in the world and no matter what goes wrong - Everything will be ok because Mickey and Walt want it that way.
