i've been receiving the disney newsletter for quite some time and find the questions that they ask dave very interesting. so, i decided to post the useless trivia i come across. i hope you guys find this interesting and fascinating:

I heard that Walt Disney never actually drew Mickey for any theatrical cartoons. Is that true? Did he design Mickey or was that someone else as well?

Walt relied on his chief animator, Ub Iwerks, to help design Mickey Mouse for him. By that time, 1928, Walt was no longer animating, but had instead moved into story work and direction. The only Mickeys he drew were occasionally at the request of autograph seekers.

Wow, I didn't know that tragic! What a cool piece of trivia!

I was fascinated by some "useless trivia" I read in my Unofficial Guide the other day. Two things were particularly entertaining to me.

(1) that Disney convinced some key cast members to spend the night in the Country Bear Playhouse the night before WDW opened, because they were so afraid they'd get stuck in horrible traffic the next morning.

(2) the robotic alligators you see while riding the train at the MK are often visited (and challenged!) by real alligators! The Imagineers consistently have to repaint the robotic alligators to repair the wounds created by the real ones!

I don't know why, but my favorite "useless" fact about Disneyland is that Pirates is powered by 6 jacuzzi jets. That's it. Which is why, if one of them stops working, the ride goes nice and slooooooooow.

It's also why you'll occasionally feel/hear one of the jets hitting the side of the boat and making a rumbling noise.

I still can't believe there are only 6 of them in the whole ride though. That just blows my mind. That's a lot of water for less jets than are in most large jacuzzis!

Dznygrl...that Is Some Great Facts...i Really Liked The Alligator Part...i Always Make Sure To See Them When On The Train Ride...now I Have To Appreciate Them More...lol...yes...please Keep Them Coming!!!

I just said "Disney" in referring to the company...not one person in particular. I guess the company was worried that their employees would get stuck in traffic...

Were the '60s family comedies, like "Shaggy Dog" and "That Darn Cat!" mostly filmed on the Disney lot?

By the end of the 1950s, we had four sound stages at the Disney Studio, two of them being among the largest in Hollywood. We also had a number of backlot sets, so, yes, most of our films at that time were indeed filmed at the Studio.
