CM Nametag Question

I've taken several Etiquette courses, and one of the things I've always been instructed is to wear nametags on the right. CMs, however, wear them on the left. Is there a reason for this?

?? I didn't know there was a certian place for name tags . That's very interesting. I wear mine on the left...always have, but I wear everything on my left (watch etc)...

When I worked in retail, I wanted to wear my name tag on the right, but I was made to wear it on the left. I don't know if it was because of how I faced the customer, or if they wanted the nametag above the patch showing the name, but they were pretty specific about it.
It still confuses me.

Good question.

I don't know about WDW, but in DL we were never instructed to wear our nametags on a particular side. I just looked at a picture of me in my CM costume, and my nametag is on the left. I'm not sure why that is, but I just put it there out of habit!!

Oh...side note...I just talked to DH about the nametag thing, and he doesn't remember being required to wear his nametag on a particular side. The only thing he DOES remember is CMs getting in trouble if their nametag was too "centered" on their costume.

The "rule" for my sorority in college (which I assume was etiquette) was to wear it on the right. When you extend your hand (right) for a hand shake they're looking at your right shoulder with your name on it. No insight from here on Disney's rules...

I know from the military that your nametag is on the right and the medals are on the left.
I am left handed and when I take a nametag in my left hand I "slap" it onto my right side.
I never knew that there was a rule though.

I always put mine on the left, because I am right handed, and it is easier!

That's what I chalked it up to too. I favor my left side and put everything on it due to my left handedness.

I think just the opposite way...I chalk it up to me being right-handed, and it being easier to reach across and pin it on my left side than to have to pull my elbow really far back and pin it on the right.

Makes me sound lazy, doesn't it?

I wonder if there IS supposed to be a rule about it at Disney?? I never knew anything!

Always on the right. It's because most people look for the name tag on the right. Its rare to see it on the left.
