Disney dollars???

Who has been to the disney store lately? Are they now selling the disney dollars or are they still unavailable? I need to grab some for my trip. I hate these traveler's checks. Who the heck wants to sign their name that many times..lol

We bought Disney Dollars at a Disney Store several times before our trip this summer. I didn't have any problems getting them.

Thanks Steph. I am going to go grab them. I bought traveler's checks for the balance of my room and intend to do cash and DD for my days in the parks. Thanks. Last time I went there, they were in the middle of their change over didn't have any. Did you know that they put a cap on how many you can buy too? I had to argue last trip to get $700 at once..lol I told the lady that she could either sell them to me all right now or I could just keep going out the door and coming back in and doing it seperately..lolol

A cap? I have never heard of that. I never buy that many, maybe $100 for my son and have never had a problem.

I bonused that year for work and bought a ton of DD for my trip. They told me that they weren't suppose to sell that many at a time....crazy I think.

I'm wondering if I should use them or just stick with cash. Carrying around that much cash seems so dangerous, but I don't wanna be stuck with dollars I can't use.

As irritating as signing your name over and over is...the TC's are still safer than either forms of "dollars" -- at least if you lose them they can be replaced.

Yes, that is true. I used them for the room. I don't want to use them for my daily money though.

Is using your debit card for your room bad?...I was under the impression it was just at the parks you wanted to be careful.

Late last night I came across a WDW Shopping and Dining gift card (I think that was the name). I thought I bookmarked the page, but I cannot find it now. The page said the card is available in many denominations and can be used in select dining and shopping outlets within the World. I didn't have time but to quickly glance at it as I was actually looking for other information when I came across it.

I will keep looking for it as it stuck out as something I could buy ahead of time, like Disney Dollars, to sort of "pre-pay" for some meals and souvineers. Something more handy than vouchers, and I could stay within budget instead of using my room key thingy that will be linked to my credit card. I think the info said the cards became available August 1st. Is this a new thing, or am I slow on the upswing, lol?

Anyway, I'll post it when I find it again.

Dana, My local Disney Store has them. They became available again back in May.

This is great. I could get for each day.....thanks! I will try for the dollars first.

Using my debit card is always an option, but for budget purposes, I like to have my money seperated into days so I stay on a budget. It just owrks out better for me that way. I have shopping issues and have better dicipline if the money is right in front of me and limited to a certain amount a day. Just the way I do it I guess.
