Re: Google 1600 Seven Seas Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Hey, I just downloaded the program and have been traveling the globe.

Does anyone know why some parts of the world are clear to almost street level, but other parts are mostly a blur.

I was able to see MK right down to the people walking on Main Street. It was easy to make out the camping loops at FW. And I could see most of Epcot. But from the "backside" of Epcot through DS and AK, it was a complete blur.

I was able to look at my old apartment in Chicago, but I can't even clearly make out our 105 acre camp with multiple buildings.

Anything I'm doing wrong?

Re: Google 1600 Seven Seas Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I've noticed it before. I wondered if the google-earth people just focused less on some less populated areas. I can actually see the swing set in my back yard, but in other areas I can't get nearly that close. But then, some Orlando areas let you get in closer than others also, and you know all of Orlando is heavily populated. I would like to know the answer to that too.

Love Google Earth! This morning, a train was at the Frontierland station, and there was a train on the BTMRR track... Plus, the crowd over by Space Mountain looked pretty light, and NOBODY was in the pool at YCBC! Sure wish I was there!

I don't think you're seeing things real time.

I "visited" MK last night and the 20,000 Leagues lagoon was still there.

It depends on when the satellite images were taken. And the area. There's one area, Carrboro, North Carolina, it's all crystal clear. We're not sure if UNC had something to do with the quality or what - but it's probably the BEST I've seen on GE. The area I live in is just a green blur. The image of parent's neighborhood is well over 5 years old.

Neat tip - make sure the box for 'Keyhole Community' is checked. That gives you access to all the placemarks people on the GE board have marked.
If you want overlays, I've got a ton saved - Baghdad, hurricane damage before and afters, etc.

Re: Google 1600 Seven Seas Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Been using keyhole (now called Google earth) for years, want some fun try these. I think there is close to 1000 points of interest on this Google earth file. I highly recommend using the "legacy database" when viewing.

WDWkml.zip
WDWkmz.zip

Well had to zip the files, as IE messes with the files if you download them, thay are well worth the trouble.

Windows only (to be fixed soon), but worth it.

Use the legacy database, it is far far better when viewing WDW.
