When do Florida schools get out for summer vacation?

I just booked our trip, May 8 to the 17 and I thought I had read that Florida schools get out mid May is this true?

I worked for Palm Beach County schools for 5 years and the LATEST we got out around the 3rd week of may. Always before memorial day though!

Last day of school in my county is 19 May. Unless you count Seniors, who usually get out a week or two early. But I'm in NW FL - not sure how that differs from South FL.

But it looks like you'll beat them there.

Broward county gets out May 25th this year ( I am a subsitute teacher so thats how I know )

Clay County usually gets out the second week in June, and the same goes for Duval County(Jacksonville) and it seems to be later every year we are here.... when we first moved here it was before Memorial Day but not anymore.... also this year they went back to school August 10th.... go figure.... they just got 2 months... this year... my grand daughter goes to school in Clay county.... hope this helps...

I am in Broward County. I believe it ends around Memorial Day.

Judy up until two years ago we were exactly the same as as your counties have no clue why broward county changed

Thank you everyone! Judy that is a short summer vacation for your grand daughter!

IMO I think school should not start till after Labor Day. This year my DS(5) and DD(3) only went to school for not even two hours one day and the next day they had their normal half of school and then they had a four day weekend for Labor Day. It was the same even for the older grades

Maria, they just passed a law yesterday in MI that school has to start after Labor Day as of next Sept.

Central FL schools normally end in the middle of may. you should be safe with your vacation on crowds it will be nice all month except for MM day weekend. Enjoy your trip.

My daughter goes to private school, but they follow palm beach co. public school pretty closely and she gets out May 25th!
