grocery stop

Ok, need a little help from all you great "Disney" fans. Will arrive Wed. 18th. and be picked up by a Tiffany driver. We have asked for the complimentary grocery stop.(1/2 hr.) Any suggestions on what some of you have done. Thought we would each take a list of what to get, then meet at the register. Other then our normal snacks, what have some of you done. Would anyone suggest a cheap cooler or would this just be a waste? Appreciate any ideas.

I have never done Tiffany's town cars but I can suggest some items for you to pick up. The first thing i would suggest would be water, water, water, water!! lol. Even though we arent in the summer heat, water is still a must for any theme park guest. A second suggestion would be cereal and those breakfast bars, whis would offer a quick meal in the morning right before you hit a park, plus saves you a few bucks b/c it keeps you full until lunch time. Then there's those other suggestions like granola bars, fruits like bananas, apples, oranges...basically anything that will keep you hydrated and full. I would stay away from the chips becuase you could eat a whole bag and still not be full! Hope this has helped you!
Joe:)

A cheap cooler would be a good idea. Fridge rental at the resorts is $10 a day! Outrageous!:devil

I saw that Goodings has a styrofoam cooler for 3.99. Maybe other grocery stores in the area carry them, too.

FYI... I have not confirmed this, but I think if you are travelling with prescription medication that requires refrigeration they will let you have one for free in your room.

WOW, Thanks everyone, what great ideas! First I never what have even thought of water. I was thinking that a styrofoam cooler would help. We are all milk drinkers and it sure would we alot cheaper to buy a gallon then the little cartons at the resort. Does anyone know if milk is included in the refillable mugs at All Star Sports?

Glad all the suggestion helped you! About the refillable mugs- if my memory is correct disney offers tea and orange juice for the mugs right?? Well if it offered those 2 i think disney would also offer milk right? Just a guess. I mean how expensive is milk for disney anyways? lol. Im pretty sure they would offer it.

FWIW, the Mousekeeper provided us with a refrigerator when he saw me trying to keep my stuff cool in an insulated freezer bag that had sprung a leak and was living out the rest of it's existance in our bathtub. He was soooooo wonderful. I will only do the styrofoam from now on - LOL!

We bought cereal (instant oatmeal, corn flakes, etc - I travel with a hot pot/kettle), couple six-packs of soda, cereal bars, granola bars, stuff to make gorp, bread, peanut butter, jelly, fruit, baby carrots, and pasta items (again, cooking in the room - not a biggie), and as Jeff said, *water*. All utensils, plates, and napkins came from the dining hall. I packed four bowls, wooden spoon, and mixing bowl. I also bought dish detergent - the shampoo didn't cut it for me when we went this summer. I think I responded in another thread (was that you?) that juice and milk are not on the refillable program. We drink a ton of milk, but I just bought it at Sport Goofy.

I will *never* bring bananas into the park again... they bruise and smoosh all over my backpack! LOL!

OOOhhhhhh - it's nuts and dried fruit and chocolate all mixed together. OK, well the chocolate is a staple in my book. We mix peanutes, almonds, dried banana, coconut, raisins, dried apple, and m&m's together in a bowl and eat from it. It's great and filling (we drink with water) and at least we can pretend it's nutricious. :D :D We munch on it when we go hiking or out Scouting.

Well Mickey, it sounds like you had your very own kitchen thing going! Yes that was me on the other thread. If we could get our milk in the refillable I wouldn't have to buy a whole gal. of it.I'll keep the bananas in the room tho.:laugh

FWIW - For What It's Worth... *mickeymac sheepishly blushes... she knows she should not be using anacronyms, but it's a Disney Board and she thinks Disney invented anacronyms)

Trail mix!! THAT's the name for it!! We make it in Cub Scouts and the kids have so much fun saying GORP (come on, say it with me... gorp gorp gorp) that I don't remember what it's all about! It's yummy!

And yes, we stock pretty fully, but it so I can afford more trinkets and go more often. :D Don't tell that to Dear Hubbiness... heheheee!

WDW - if you do get a whole gallon, buy it in the quart size containers - the gallons don't fit in the refrigerators (that's if you get a refrigerator)

And why didn't you guys tell me about the bananas! Sheesh! :D

You know, Gorp does sound alot better than trail mix:laugh For those of you who are as nutritionally challenged as I am--someone pass the doritos!--I packed Luna bars for myself and Centrum peanut butter bars for my fiance. (They acted more like midnight snacks) They're packed with the vitamins you need and don't have that chalky taste others have. Centrum almost convinced us they were snickers bars. Also, if you're a coffee-drinker buy a small can. Though you can get refills at the dining halls, nothing's worse than waking up in the middle of the night and wanting something that just isn't available. Don't forget filters. :)
