This trip - dining favorites
Dining at WDW is always a treat for me. There are so many great places to try and I always want to hit new ones on each trip. I also have favorites that I like to include on every trip.
My favorite non-themed breakfast is the buffet at the Swan's Garden Grove Cafe. The room is beautiful (it is designed in the shape of a giant bird cage with lots of glass). The selection is very good and it has a great omlette station. I have always found the service good and have yet to see it crowded. We had a really nice lunch at the Big River Grille and Brewing Works on the Boardwalk. You can eat inside or out (weather permitting), the menu has a nice mix and they have excellent micro-brews if you like beer. I always have the sampler that gives you small glasses of the beers that they are currently brewing. The prices are not that bad for an on-site restaurant. The Cape May Cafe Clambake was something we had to try after hearing great reviews from Disney Central. What a great selection! There was so much more than just seafood. I think the pickiest eater could be satisfied. If you are a dessert lover you'll be in paradise. We didn't get a priority seating, just showed up at around 6:00 and were seated in a few minutes but that will change at busier times of the year. The Flying Fish at the Boardwalk is one of our favorites for a special dinner. Being from a barrier island off the NJ coast, I am a seafood lover, and have never been disappointed there. It's nice to have fresh fish that are not common to NJ waters and we always enjoyed the service and atmosphere. The Banana Napoleon is one of my all time favorite desserts. I know I've barely scratched the surface of Disney Dining but these are a few that we really enjoyed. I'm starved! graybill

Graybill..where is Barrier Island? I live in Lewes, if you are familiar with the Cape May/ Lewes Ferry than you will know where I am talking about.
Great dining report. Did you eat anywhere else? We have PS for the Clam Bake on our first night. Can't wait!

Trish,
I actually live in Ocean City which I always refer to as a barrier island for the NJ coast. We are about 25 miles north of Cape May and I have taken the ferry to Lewes about a half a dozen times. In fact, one of my best friends from high school was married in Lewes and the reception was at the Lewes Yacht Club. Talk about good seafood! They had the best raw clams and oysters that I have ever eaten. There were 2 men shucking them for the entire reception. We also ate lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe at Animal Kingdom, which always seems to be good but sometimes takes a long time to be seated. We had dinner at Captain Jacks at DD but we were in a hurry and kind of rushed through it. It was fine but we didn't really give it much of a chance. graybill

Graybill: Since you're also from Jersey, the verdict is in thanks to your rave about the Cape May Cafe Clambake. It's going to be a must stop for us. I'm currently living in Monmouth County not far from Sandy Hook but originally from Jersey City. The Mister is from Sayreville. We also love seafood and like to try out fish other than blues (our main catch along with crabs off the Barnegat Light rocks on LBI) We went to Fulton's at Downtown Disney during our last visit and fell in love with their crablegs, raw clams and oysters. I never thought anyone could beat the clams at the clambroth house in Hoboken or the snowcrab legs at Bahr's in Atlantic Highlands but Disney sure proved me wrong. And we were thrilled to have a waitress from none other than Hackensack. :)

Willbegone,
It's at the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort. It's priced typical for WDW...probably $18.95 or so for adults. While it's somewhat popular, you probably wouldn't need a PS too far in advance. It's an easy walk from Epcot and an interesting alternative if you're at MGM. One thing I should mention... When I heard it was a 'Clambake' I expected something different than what it was... just a regular restaurant with a regular buffet table. That said, we had exceptional service and the food was great. Bruce

Thanks for the info, Graybill. Everyone raves so much about Cape May that we are putting it on our "must" list (hubby has included the Hard Rock Restaurant for this trip, go figure
) I also want to try out the Big River Grille. So many places to eat, so little time...:D
