Icon9 I miss the Disney Magazine

I was reading the Family Fun Magazine over the weekend, and it is definitely not the same as the Disney Magazine. Once the subscription runs out, I will not subscribe to it. I was a loyal subscriber since 1987, and I really miss the Disney Magazine. I miss the trivia articles, the stories, and the photos. It was a magazine that everyone in the family, you and old, could relate to if you were a Disney fan. Every four months the magazine made you feel like you were at a Disney park, even though you were in your own living room. While there are various other publications and web sites out there, there is no substitute for the Disney Magazine.

Re: I miss the Disney Magazine

I was just thinking the same thing a couple days ago. The last issue was SO great on the 50th, and even though it was a nice way to "end," it made me think "gosh, why are they ending just a wonderful thing that so many people enjoy?" I LOVED seeing all the pictures that readers would send in of their families, hidden mickey's, etc...
Why did it stop anyway, I don't think I really know the scoop. It's really ashame.

Re: I miss the Disney Magazine

Yeah, me too... we saved them all, though. They needed to sell more non-Disney advertising to have the publication be financially viable. Always wanted to work there...

Re: I miss the Disney Magazine

Yeah...we are finishing our subscription with Adventures magazine...which barely mentions anything new going on with Disney...just what is up with the teeny bopper disney channel. Sorry...but reading about Phil of the Future is not as exciting as reading about new rides, movies, and ideas from Disney. I miss everything about that great magazine...I really learned a lot...like when On the Record was touring...the behind the scenes story of Mission Space...and so on! Rest in peace Disney Magazine... you are really really missed!!!

I agree, the magazine did make you feel like you were at the parks, even if you were just in your home. I also have gotten the Family Fun Magazine and I was disappointed. No hint of Disney at all. I want my Disney Magazine back!!

Re: I miss the Disney Magazine

We got Disney Adventures cause we figured it would be at least a little Disney. It is so-so, mostly just a big Ad for Kids.

I suppose Disney Magazine was too, but at least it was an Ad magazine about something people really cared about and the articles didn't seem so much like Ads.

Re: I miss the Disney Magazine

Disney Magazine used to come free with a membership in the Disney Club, which was a cool discount program that gave you 10% off at the Disney Stores, plus greatly reduced prices at WDW and DL -- on resorts, park tickets and food! Members got an ID card like a credit card, and I really loved it. I still carry that card around with me!

But it was so cool to get the magazine every issue! I felt great when it arrived!

I used to do advertising sales, too...not print, though. Although that would have been a GREAT job!!!
