To swim or not to swim???
It has been quite a few years since I have been to WDW during that time frame, but I do remember that we were able to swim both times.
One year it was cool and rainy for the first couple of days, but my kids dragged me into the hot tub at every opportunity. They would get nice and warm and then jump in the regular pool until it was time to warm up again. It eventually warmed up enough to swim in the pools and we even went to Wet & Wild since it was prior to BB and TL. I always pack a suit, even if it just to enjoy the hot tubs after a long day of running around the parks. I hope you get great weather like we had during the first week of Dec! graybill

The pools are heated to about 82 degrees. Send an email asking about the particular resort you're staying at just to make sure! It was VERY cold most of the time we were there, but the one day it warmed up. And the last morning was o.k.-ish. If you live near the shore (or visit!) you know how when you first get in the water is like ICE, but eventually it can be not so bad. I still feel chilly in the Disney pools, but it's tolerable for some quick laps and such. This time I found the thing to do is quickly dip in the hot tub to get wet, and then get into the pool fast. Last time I made the mistake of lounging in the hot tob to get nice and warm... That makes the pool water feel like 50-below!!! The quick dip gets rid of about half of the "it's too cold!" shock from entering the pool. :)

We have vacationed during this time frame a couple of times and have always been able swim at our resort and have spent one day at the water parks each time. Just remember that some of the water parks are closed during this time for repair and upkeep.

I went to disney the first week of february this year. The weather was very cool. I would say to cool for swimming, but as Amneris stated the pools are heated, so its up to you! The hot tub is always inviting on a chilly night! In the Birnbaums book it says the high and lows for jan. and feb. are 72-50. Which would be considered below freezing for us floridians!
Joe:) p.s. Welcome to DisneyCentral Disneydad and Amneris!:)

ALWAYS Pack Your Swimmng Suit
:o The sun is cooler so far this season, but you never know about the weather down here. I would pack some warm clothing too.
El Nino is supposed to be visiting this year and it may be cold, but then it may not. Just be prepared and have a great time!:angel

Thanks everyone. Mostly I was curious because my 4 yr old little mermaid keeps asking if we'll be able to swim. She enjoys the pools at the resorts as much as the parks. I thought we wouldn't be able to swim but wanted to see what you folks thought. Here's hoping El Nino doesn't mess thing up too much!!

we went last Feb. 15-25 and went swimming in the hotel pools. They are heated and were warmer than the air so I just kept only my head aboce water. The kids loved it and I really need to swim and wear shorts to feel like Disney. Enjoy!

We love going to the park this time of year. The park is EMPTY! It's great. It's a bit cool in the morning but quite warm by the afternoon. We have always been able to swim at least one day. I would keep a very flexible schedule. Keep an eye on the weather so you can change you days at the park for a day at the pool if it's going to be really warm. Enjoy! Your going to have the parks all to yourself.:)
