In fact, we went to 7:30 mass one Sunday and waited thru a half hour of that and were not happy to have rushed there for such silliness. (but we had a good chuckle over it) So the following week, we went late to mass thinking we'd skip that stuff, and it ended up being a different priest. We arrived after the second reading!
