Catholic Church near Disney
Does anyone know where the closest Catholic church is to Disney? Usually when we are on vacation, DH feels like it is ok to miss mass, but considering the length of our trip, I think we need to go each Sunday and especially on Christmas morning. Also, if you know how to get there, I would apperciate any directions. We usually seem to get lost. Thanks for any help!

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
My Grandmother used to attend a mass in one of the resorts. I can't remember which it was and I never went with her
: but I can't remember which resort it was at i THINK it might have been at the Polynesian. hmm, I will have to research that for you. Unfortunately, she's since passed so I can't call her as ask but I am sure it must still go on.

I know there are church services on the grounds, but as far as an actual Catholic church, I am not sure. Do you have the unofficial guide? I think there is a section in there about worshipping while at the world.

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
There is a huge shrine not too far from Downtown Disney. Get there at least 45 mins early for a seat at Christmas.

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
Thanks for making me feel guilty PoohFan, lol. We'll be there a month, and the same thing crossed my mind. According to the official guide, Mary,Queen of the Universe Shrine is 2 1/2 miles north of Lake Buena Vista, at 8300 Vineland Avenue. Call 407-239-6600 for mass times. (it's really close, we've passed it dozens of times on the way to SeaWorld or Universal). Disney no longer holds any religious services at the resorts.

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
Whoops, sorry for the outdated info, it didn't say it had ended or had a date on the site. Although, I know EXACTLY where that "Mary, Queen of the Universe" congregation is and it's HUGE!!! It is REALLY close to the Downtown Disney area, right there on I-4.

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
Yes, they ended the masses at the Poly a few years back. But we're just as happy going to Mary Queen of the Universe anyway..it's much bigger. And it's pretty easy to get to.
Here's a link to their website:http://www.maryqueenoftheuniverse.org/ You may want to check back there later, as they may have a different schedule for Christmas than their normal weekly mass schedule. And BTW, as you pass the entrance to the church grounds, you'll go past one of the best off property restaurants we've found: Bahama Breeze. Check it out!

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
Thanks everyone! Llama, sorry to make you feel guilty. We usually will miss Church while on vacation, but this one is so much longer that I just don't feel right missing that much. It is nice to know that there is one so close. I will also try to make time to check out that restaurant Ddoll. Thanks again everyone!

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
Maybe Disney will bring back Christmas mass? I think they should -- Maybe at Boardwalk Business Center in one of the big ballrooms! It would be easy for everyone, and out of the way of the parks and crowds... plus plenty of parking! I think I will write a letter... (where's my pen!)

Re: Catholic Church near Disney
Last year they did do a wonderful Catholic mass at the Contempory for Easter. They actually did a wonderful job! Otherwise, we always go to Mary Q of U. It is also a sight to behold.

I loved it when the Polynessian had mass...I even went to the Contemporary once...but now we have no choice but to go the shrine.
