Epcot Email
Where do you go to send email from Epcot? And where will it be posted on Disney Central? How do you send it here? I am planning to spend more time investigating Epcot then ever. This will be our first visit with no kids with us! Just the DH and myself!

There are two spots, one is Innoventions, the one on the right as you enter, and the other is at the exit of Journey into Imagination. You can send it to Mickey at DisneyCentral dot com. I will post it under trip reports here. It usually takes about 10 days for an email to get to me, though sometimes less.

Sounds like Disney email is slower than the normal snail mail (I better watch it, my DH works for postal service) Mickey told me in earlier post it usually took about 10 days for him to get the emails from Epcot. I wonder why it doesn't work like regular email?:hmmm

They don't actually send you the picture, they send you a link to the photo that is hosted online, and my guess is that it takes a while for the process to happen, and I am sure they delay it a while to make sure that the image is up.

Jimbob... there are AT&T internet kiosks at all the resorts and scattered throughout the parks. You have free access to Disney sites (great to stick an older sibling at when you are rummaging around yet another bathroom with the wee ones - ha! a pun! "wee" one! hehehe!) Anyways, they are a bit expensive, but great for a quick note or something (I think $.75 for the first minute and $.25 for each after that, subject to change). I found them to be horridly slow, but had to test them out.
The ones at the Wonderland Cafe are more like an Internet Cafe, but the machines are rather abused. Amazingly, it would not let me check my broadband email, but would let me buy stuff from the Disneystore site... :D I heard a rumor that a 'net cafe was going in (via the ATT kiosks) somewhere in Tomorrowland, but was unable to confirm the rumor when we went a couple of weeks ago.

We sent ours (EPCOT email) out on January 1, 2003. I don't know for sure if the one to my house was received but I think so.
There was an ATT internet phone at Pirates of the Caribbean. I didn't get a chance to use it because someone else was using it and taking a very long time. I didn't see this internet access elsewhere, but I am sure it has to be.

I used the internet terminals at the parks and at my resort (All-Star Music) throughout my last trip (mid-December to early January). I loved the fact that I could check my email and make sure my website was working fine. The cost was $1 for 4 minutes (so if you put $2 in, you got 8 minutes). You can pay with bills or credit cards (not sure if you could use spare change). I think $1 per 4 minutes is a fair price. The connection was obviously not high-speed, but I found it adequate. It was also really cool that most Disney websites were free (including ESPN).
On the negative side, I'd say this ... 1. I guess the terminal at the All-Star Music resort replaced a phone, so it's really not at the best height (unless you are sitting down, but there's no chair). So I either had to hunch over considerably (and I'm only 5'10") or get down on one knee to use the keyboard effectively. 2. Some of the terminals at the parks were not in the best shape. Several times the finger mousepad itself or the mouse button(s) were not functional. This made it very difficult to navigate in some instances. After encountering this, I was careful not to use any terminals that had this problem. 3. The size of the screen is kind of small. There is a big navigation bar/time "left" clock on the left side of the screen which I think takes up to much space. As such, the actual space allocated to web browsing is to small. Any websites that are designed to minimally fit a resolution of 800x600 will cause a scroll bar to appear on the bottom of the browser. With the usual right side scroll bar (to scroll up and down a page) ... it's simply a major pain if you have to use the mousepad to do all this scrolling. My suggestion is to use the keyboard arrow keys as much as possible to do the page up/down/left/right scrolling. Regards, Bobster. |

I meant to put in my post about the EPCOT email how the keyboard I used was very difficult to manage. The keys kept repeating and when you tried to correct, it erased the whole message. I wonder if there is anyone checking on these types of things.
So, Mickey, if you noticed that my "name" was spelled with quite a few more letters than usual in the email, you know why. :D

Re: Epcot Email
Does anyone have any new information on this subject? DH wants to check his email while we are there but I don't want him to have to bring his laptop.
If we did bring a laptop, is there wireless anywhere? Thanks,
