The Poly or AKL??

Hey everybody! Well its time to celebrate my B-day once agian at WDW, and I have a question for ya guys! My family has narrowed it down to either the Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge. My little bro is leaning towards the AKL, and my mom wants the Poly. Which one would you guys prefer?? Also anyone know of any great discounts out there? Anything for florida residents for feb. 21? If I stay at either resort it would be a lagoon view at the poly or a savannah view at the AKL (My mom sees NO point in staying at those 2 resorts without getting one of those rooms...hey it doesnt bother me!). I have another question probably for you mickey: I know the shades of green is charging people the same price for the CR wings, but i also noticed they have "overflow" rates that would allow people to stay at other resorts (like the poly) for a greatly reduced price...Could we reserve a room at the poly thru the shades of green even without the overflow? Thanks everyone in advance for the help!
Joe:)

Hi Joe-
We just stayed at both hotels in December, and hands down, we Loved the poly. The AKL was nice, and it was definitly cool looking out and seeing the animals, but it really didn't compare to the Poly-in our opinion . Even our 4 yo DD (who loves animals) liked the poly better- in fact she told Auntie the thing she liked best about Disney was "her hotel-the Polynesian"

We loved having the monorail right there. We were so close to everything.

If you have any specific questions I'll try to answer them, I'm sure no matter which hotel you stay at you'll love it.

Lauren:)

I love both resorts. The AKL is fun, but a bit out of the way. The Poly is beautiful, and is in a great location. There are some great FL resident discounts right now. The AKL savannah is $255 per night, including tax, the Poly garden is $278 and the Poly lagoon view is $354.

If you are trying to decide between the lagoon view Poly at $354 and the savannah at $255, I would go for the savannah. The rooms are about the same, but $100 per night is a big difference for location and a water view.

If you could book at the Shades of Green in the first place, I would call them at 888-593-2242 and ask. I know that we have booked some rooms for people at other resorts that were about the same as what they had at the Contemporary through the military. At the time, they weren't offering overflow for anyone, but they may be during February.

Joe what a great b-day present!!! I've never been to AKL but love the Polynesian!!! What I like most about the Poly is the atmosphere, pool & beach. I don't know if it will be warm enough for you to swim at the end of Feb. I think I would save Poly for warmer weather when you can fully enjoy the amenities! However... being on the monorail can't be beat! A savannah room at AKL does sound very tempting plus they have rooms with a queen size bed and bunk beds that would be nice for a family... also less expensive. What a tough decision to have to make!! LOL ;)
