Cedar Point to announce Project 2003 tomorrow!
As some of you folks know, I'm from Ohio (seems to be a trend, don't it?) and I live just a few minutes away from Cedar Point. I tend to spend waaaaay too much time at the park during the summer.
Last winter Cedar Point broke ground for what was thought at the time to be a resturaunt. It turns out that this summer they proved everyone wrong and started building a huge thrill ride. The park has remained highly hush-hush about Project 2003 except for saying "It's not going to be McDonalds, the ride" (since the color scheme is Red, Yellow, and white) and "It's not made of wood." Tomorrow morning at 6:20am on Cleveland TV station FOX 8 a member of the Cedar Point Public Relations department will be on the morning news show to delvuge the details of Project 2003! Cedar Point will be releasing video press kits via satellite at 5:30am (sorry, but you can't tune into it with your home dish... ) Anyway, I'd like to make my official, unofficial prediction the night before the announcement, so here goes (remember, this isn't biased by anything I've read on the internet, this is from my observations at the park waaay back in August, September, and October): Type: Intamin Rocket Coaster Height: 415-425 Feet Speed: 115-125 MPH Stations: At least one load and one unload Trains: at least 4 (possibly as many as 6) Name: "RPM," which will be an acronym for something, which I don't know right now. (This one is something I've picked up from creditable sources OFFLINE) Theme: Some sort of race car theme. (again, stuff I've heard offline from creditable sources) Layout: Launch (in about 2.8 seconds [I did some physics]), up to a tophat, down the other side, but while going down the train will do a 270 degree twist, then will hit the brakes at the end of the ride. Queue: Entrance and Exit seem to be going way down near Iron Dragon and Power Tower. That's all I've got for you. Eveything I said is based on my observations and deductions except for where stated. We'll find out tomorrow how close I am!

Speed 115-125?? YIKES! Are the newer roller coasters all this fast? Isn't the rocking roller coaster only 60? So if you ride the "mcdonalds" coaster and then the RNR, does the RNR feel like you are sitting on the couch watching tv? Or would it be the difference between BTMRR and Casey Junior?
either way, I think I am too chicken to ride the mickey d!:p |

This ride will be like X-celerator right? I have heard about it for some time now. X-celerator also has Car looking coaster cars and does that ultra wild Straight up Straight down hump thing. Only being at Cedar Point, I'm sure this one will be taller and faster than any other in existence. :D
I'm glad one is coming closer to home... I hope to visit Cedar Point someday, as it is still a long drive away for me... farther than WDW. ![]()

Hmmm... compared to XLC that goes 80 in 1.8 secs using pneumatics... what launches this coaster... LIM? Theorhetically XLC has a faster acceleration, but slows faster. Of course when you calculate gravity maybe they even out, hmmm. Cool Stats though.
Still Dragster is way more awesome... and scary. ![]()
