Broken Toilet Just Saved Our Trip!

For the second time in 4 months, 1yo DS flushed a toy down the toilet. So once again, I had to go to the hardware store for a wax ring.

When I got into the truck, the "Check Engine" light came on. This is the same truck we need to haul the pop-up camper to WDW. (((GROAN))))

There is only one mechanic in the area that I trust with my vehicles--and that's the way a lot of people feel, which is why the wait time to get your car in can be more than a month.

So after the hardware store, I went straight to my mechanic and explained the situation. He told me he'd squeeze me in next Tuesday (We leave on Friday).

Had it not been for the toilet, there is a good chance I wouldn't have driven the truck until next week, when it would have been too late to get into the shop.

Now, as long as it's a quick fix, we should be good to go. Whew!!!!

Good!!! See, sometimes things happen for a reason. The poop covered tonka truck though, ehhhh, not so sure about that. Here's to a FAST mechanic and a quick fix next week.

Are there any plan B's aligned? I am sure your mechanic will be TOTALLY fine but I am jsut paranoid about these sort of things!!!

Good thing you have a trusty mechanic!

PS: when I read this thread title I got REALLY nervous that something happened to Lil's gift from Wal-Mart!

I'm glad you did drive the truck cause that would have been a blower if you got on the road and had car problems.

Hey! Your kid's a flusher too! We had one of those. Apparently kids are either flushers or they're not. It's not a fun trait. DH had it so he could disassemble and reassemble the toilet in 5 mins, kinda like a pit stop.

Our kid used to sit in the tub and pitch toys into the toilet during his bath. Toothbrushes were frequent flushables too.

The favorite was when Spiderman went down and DH couldn't dislodge him by any means. Turns out he was hanging on to the sides by all four limbs. Kinda like Da Vinci's man.

If the truck can not be fixed intime, I guess you could just strap everything to the top of the car like you did last time.

On a more serious note (Like that is possible), when your check engine light comes on, it could be something as simple as not tightening your gas cap all the way till it clicks. I do hope it is not something serious.
