What Do Men Wear?.....................

Now that I got your attention, the question is: What is the norm to wear in the parks during hot June days for the men and boys?

I'm going to let the boys wear surf/bathing shorts and the coolest sleeveless T's they have so they can run under any fountain they want or get the wettest ever on Kali and Splash.

Do the "older" men do the same? Should DH wear his sand & surf shorts, too? But then in the evening wear something nicer? Or would you wear them at night, too? (Unless you're eating out someplace nice, of course.)

Opinions, anyone?

Re: What Do Men Wear?.....................

I would question just about anyone who wore anything BUT shorts on the dog days of summer at WDW. Shorts and t-shirts are the norm for the theme parks, and even at dinner at night. Other than Victoria and Albert's, no WDW restaurants enforce a dress code that I know of. Some of the signature dining restaurants have one, but it is rarely, if ever enforced.

There shouldn't be any problem at all going into any WDW sit-down with a t-shirt and shorts. Personally, while I would wear a sleeveless shirt to the parks, I wouldn't wear it to dinner at night. No one needs to see my armpits while they are eating.

But I would wear a t-shirt and shorts to a sit down restaurant at WDW which I'd never do at home. It's an ultra casual atmosphere at WDW and that extends even to sit down restaurants.

Re: What Do Men Wear?.....................

Go for comfort, not fashion. That's my motto for WDW! DH and DS always wear tee shirts and shorts in the summer. For our upcoming trip we're bringing nicer stuff (polos and khakis) for a couple of sit down dinners at the hotel restaurants, but in the parks themselves...be comfy!

Re: What Do Men Wear?.....................

Speaking on behalf of most guys, we don't really care as long as we are comfortable. I think we would go naked if it was socially acceptable at WDW.

I would go completely for comfort unless you are dining at a fancier spot like the California Grill.

Now THAT'S a mind picture that I REALLY didn't want to see!!!

Black Tux is what I usually wear although white is acceptable before labor day. (Sorry, still trying to get the picture of 50,000 naked park visitors out of my mind. )

COMFORT is the without doubt the key. Light colors to reflect the FL sun, loose fitting is the official uniform for park commandos.

OMG...Speedos...that's funny...not on my man!!!

The fanciest restaurant we're eating at is Fulton's (if you call that fancy), but that night we're also going to La Nouba, so we'll be dressing a little nicer.

Cool and Comfort...that seems to be the key. When we were at WDW last April it wasn't so hot (actually we were shivering a few days). I'd better go through the closets this week to be sure we have enough loose, cool clothing.

Lol the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread is that if the boy i'm going with wants to wear his usual black clothing I will so laugh at him.

Hahahaha he'll actually have to wear a "light" color....oh this will be soo good.

Re: What Do Men Wear?.....................

Comfort and commonsense is the key.

I'm all for guys (women too) being cool and comfortable in the parks, but some of them look like they just rolled out of bed. Shorts and tees, definitely, but no reason why they can't be clean and neat. And - just a personal thing - but sleeveless shirts on men is not a good look, unless you've got the body to pull it off. It's also not really a treat to be looking at sweaty armpit hair. Especially in restaurants. And guys - please take off the baseball caps in restaurants. That's just good manners.

If you're staying on site and take at break at the resort before dinner, it is nice to make the effort to tidy up a bit. I always lay out nice shorts and a golf shirt for my dh for dinner. (he'd wear the same outfit for a week ) I just feel better cleaned up. Of course, if you can't get back to the resort, just do your best.

Mine too! I always go for comfort. you are doing so much walking, that you need to wear clothes that you can move in. I always feel bad for the ladies who are in full dress with the high heels? My feet scream watching them. I dont see much of that though. I told DBF to pack shorts and T-shirts and a few pair of jeans and dress shirts for dinners.

You will see me mostly in cotton sweats, shorts and sometimes even a light weight skirt.

Re: What Do Men Wear?.....................

My DH and boys only wear tee shirts. Or sometimes DH will wear a tank and have a short sleeved shirt open over it.

The only downside to wearing a tank shirt is going into a restaurant to eat. They crank the A/C up so high it can be uncomfortably cold if you have next to nothing on. So if you don't want to carry anything with you, maybe you could save the sitdown places for evening.

Good call on the no armpits at dinner, ingamba!

I totally agree, llama!......I like to go back to our room and take a shower before dinner and change into nice clothes. It makes me feel like we are "out for the evening".
