my Sept '03 Disney wedding at the Swan
I am currently in the process of planning my Sept 2003 wedding at the Swan resort. I am asking for any ideas or info anyone may feel useful. Thinking about a small informal family dinner at possibly Yacht & Beach Club's Cape May Cafe or Cinderellas Royal Table...any thoughts?

As far as dinner, if those are your top picks I'd go with Cape May, but then it's one of my all-time favorite restaurants. But there's bound to be something for everyone there. You could probably do something really neat at Mexico (very intimate feeling, but limited menu) or Rose & Crown, too. Soooo many restaurants, so little time! What are your other plans? Clue us in...we're all dying to hear!

HMMM, well, our plans are to have an intimate ceremony at the Swan in the courtyard. Following the vows we will have mimosas (since the ceremony is at 11am) and cake. That evening we will have a dinner for those who come. We have invited only immediate family and just a few very close friends,we are thinking that maybe 20-25 of the invited guests will make the trip from Vermont. Your thoughts on the restaurant for dinner is greatly appreciated. I saw some not so exciting reviews on the Cinderellas Royal Table, and I thought that Cape May Cafe is nearby to the Swan and could be kinda fun. We did discuss Mexico, but I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food. Canada's steakhouse(never been), Tony's Town Square, and Alfredos has also been discussed.

Well, my suggestion would be Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. It is right by the Swan, fairly small so you would take over most of it and the food is wonderful. While I love Le Cellier in Canada, I was thinking you may want to stay out of the parks since you will require everyone to have entrance to the parks just to go to dinner. While I like Cape May, it is a buffet, and I don't know if that is what you have in mind. It is also very busy, with people walking around to go to and from the buffet. Yachtsman Steakhouse isn't a bad option either if you wanted to go for beef over seafood.
Congrats and happy planning, oh, and welcome to DisneyCentral.

We had our wedding dinner (with guests) at Narcoossie's. They don't open to the public til 5 pm ... so if you begin before that you would have the place to yourselves. :D

Hi!
I was married in WDW in the morning! You are so lucky! What a wonderful experience! We had our wedding dinner at Tony's Town Square in the MK. Tony's for dinner was very nice (and would have been more romantic had it been only Dh and myself!) The staff brought us a complimentary dessert and we stood by the fountain in the center of the restaurant while the whole place waved their napkins and said "Amore!" while we kissed. Since then, I have experience many more restaurants on property and would highly recommend someplace more formal for your special night. The Yachtsman Steakhouse has a wonderful, casually-elegant atmosphere. That is where I would chose, if I had it to do over again. Did you get a photographer? That is one thing that I am glad that I did. Happy planning!

Thanks everyone for the info!! I'm getting SOOOOO excited. As far as our wedding nite dinner with family and friends I think we have decided to stay out of the parks for the sake of family that may not get a park pass for that day. Mickey's suggestion of the Flying Fish Cafe has me thinking, is it somewhat quiet enough in there for conversation/toasts etc?...we ate there once and I can't remember. Also the Yatchman Steakhouse was on our list, I've never been there. Yensidfan's suggestion of Narcoosies sounds like something we would like to try, but may be a little more pricey for us to take the whole family??Same with Fulton's Crab house, as much as I love it, I think it is a little more pricey than some others??I'm glad BDavis932 mentioned the Brown Derby, my sister and her husband have suggested we try it this trip, what can you tell me about it. I've only gotten as close to it as the CatWalk. Trishb, you are lucky to have had your dinner at Tony's, my favorite! The first time I took my "to be husband" to Disney we spent our first nite at the Magic Kingdom and had dinner there. We had awesome seats on the front seating and dessert came just in time for the SpectroMagic parade...I teared up! It was so wonderful for our first nite at Disney together! Oh, and No, we have not gotten our photographer yet. Our wedding coordinator at "just marry" has a list to choose from. Although I'm kind of bummed that you can't bring a photographer into a park unless it is a Disney photographer. Thanks again, everybody...this is just great!!:D

Our Disney photographer was fantastic...and well worth the cost. The pictures are priceless. They arrived in a big, professional photo album (all of the pictures matted...one per page) that was sprinkled with shiny Mickeys. We were able to order any of the pictures that we liked for an additional cost...plus, they enclosed any of the pictures that did not make it in the album (at least 50 pics in total).
We were married in early September. What a memorable experience!

Reiko, the nice thing about Flying Fish is that with 25 people, you will take over most of the restaurant, so you will control the noise level. I would say normally it is a fairly quiet restaurant, but it is an open kitchen, so that adds to the noise a bit. It is also within walking distance of the Swan, and no park passes required.

My DH and I were married in Disney back in June 02. We had it at the Polynesian Sunset Pointe. The wedding was at 3pm. There was the 2 of us and my best friend and his best friend. Me and my maid of honor got out hair and make-up done by Disney in our room. It came out so awesome. We also went with the Disney photographer (I think that is a must) The pictures came out awesome.... Are you planning your wedding thru Disney Weddings? (just curious) We had dinner at the California Grille (top of the Contemporary Resort) The food was awesome and the view was fantastic. You over look the MK..... If there is anything that I can do in helping you plan please let me know. :)

WOW, your wedding site must have been great...to be honest, I've never checked out the beach at the polynesian. We chose the Swan to avoid the Disney Fairytale Wedding prices! As much as I would LOVE to go that route, financialy, there is no way. Since the Swan is not owned by Disney, we can do it much more affordable, but hopefully have that Disney feeling. The Swan refered us to a company called Just Marry! and we have a wedding coordinator with them. We got a basic package that includes the consultant, the outdoor site, flowers for B&G, cake and champagne for up to 10 guests (we will extend that) , a musician (choice of flutist, harpist, trumpeter, guitarist), minister or notary and a decorated brass arch. The package is about $2,000. I believe. Then they help with any add-ons we want, such as a photographer. Although their photographers are not allowed to go into a park for pictures with us. We would have to get a Disney photographer for that. I'm going to be looking into getting the groom and I massages together at the resort the morning of the ceremony, then also hair and nails for me. I am currently researching dinner spots for us and our families that nite...strongly swaying toward the Cape May Cafe buffet at the Y&B (easy walk for everyone from the Swan). Maybe renting a pontoon party boat for after dinner fireworks. So far I think we will be having 20-25 guests.
Thanks for your interest, I love talking about it! Any input/ideas etc...are greatly appreciated.:D |

That sounds awesome... I know that Disney Weddings can be VERY EXPENSIVE. Since it was only 4 of us total we had what they call an "Intimate Wedding" rather than a "Custom Wedding" which is what you would be looking at because of how many people that you have which would be expensive. If you are looking at getting a Disney Photographer one thing to remember is that they CANNOT take pictures of you in the park when the park is open. They can only go into the park in the very early am. I think you have to be there by 6am. If you call Disney Weddings they have all the info. There is like 4 or 5 packages and they are VERY expensive. If I can find the info I will post it for ya. The other thing is that you CANNOT be in ANY of the parks in your wedding dress. The only way is if you have one of the Custom Weddings and your dinner/reception is within the park then you can. All the Disney hotels dont mind at all. If you dont have a preference on a Rev/Minister, we used Rev Jack Day. He came very highly recommended by not only the people at Disney Weddings but by someone that I work with who had their wedding down in Disney also. We LOVED him he is so AWESOME. If there is anything else that I can think of I will let you know and if you have questions or if there is anything that you need to know or would like me to find out for you I would be more than happy to help ya out. I dont know if you are going down to Disney before your wedding but if you arent My DH and I are going down there at the end of July if there is anything that you just ask. :)
