A little update from WOD NYC

So I jumped in a cab on Friday after a doctor's appt. in Union Square and decided to head north instead of back to work. "55th and 5th," I told the driver, and was soon pulling up to one of my favorite places in Manhattan--World of Disney!

The place was MAD with Pirates merchandise and has several fun events planned around the opening of the new film. It looked like the entire store was re-decorated--scenes from the ride all over the place--too much fun! They had the "make-your-own-pirate-hat" and "fill-your-treasure-chest" setups for the kids, and all of the latest and greatest pirates pins on display. They had a whole Cars section, too, with fun t-shirts, Cars electronics (TVs, CD players, even a Cars MP3 player!), talking stuffed animals, t-shirts, radio controlled cars, etc. Neat-o.

Also, news-flash, WDW Annual Passholders can get their 10% discount at WOD NYC now for the first time (for a limited time, of course). Yay!

Just wanted to share--it was a fun Friday afternoon!

Cool update, thanks Bali! I have to muster up all my strength to stay away now! Our big Xmas trip is less than 160 days away, and I need to start saving money! I'm so pathetic, everytime I walk into a store or into the mall, and I go to buy something unnecesary, I truly ask myself "do I really need this, or would I rather be in Disney World?!" It works almost every time.

On a side note, when I was in the Disney store yesterday (repeating the above over and over and over again) they had lots of new pirates stuff out! Lots of costumes, including a very cook Davey mask, and some nice Capt Jack adult clothes.

I'm with you! Luckily, I've taken so many no-money-for-souvenirs trips to WDW where all our money went to hotel and food, I'm well-trained in the "do I just want this because of the atmosphere, or will I really use it" question! I'm so used to it that I usually come home from Disney Store and WDW trips with souvenir money left in my pocket

!

I love WDW at Christmastime. I was just thinking about the Christmas Parade this morning!! Love it!

I used to work on 42nd and Park and I only went to WOD a few times (even when it was just a plain old Disney Store I never went!

That would have been a great lunch hour walk, too! I work downtown, so getting up to midtown is always a trek. But, that means that whenever I go to the store, it's a real treat!

I walked everywhere when I worked...but NO ONE was into Disney at my job so NO ONE would go with me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, never heard of it.

It's only one of Manhattan's true architectural gems, and worth a visit by anyone, whether they are travelling by train or not, just to see it.

But to stay on topic, sorry for the 'jack

, I love WOD on 55th and Fifth. I'm so glad it went from a plain old Disney Store to WOD, because now you can buy "theme park only" stuff there.

That's one of my favorite reasons! WOD NYC has been added to my annual NYC Thanksgiving/Xmas trip. See, for years, DH and I have been going to the Radio City show the night before Thanksgiving, then going to FAO and then up to see the balloon line up. Since last year, WOD is the first stop before Radio City!
