Hey guys, I'm new to this site, so I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. Anyway, I did a search here for threads regarding the fishing excursions at Disney World, and I wasn't able to find much...so I thought I'd post to see if anyone could provide some of the info I'm looking for...
Can anyone tell me if there are certain lakes that are better than others for the Disney fishing excursions? My girlfriend and I went on a 7:00 a.m. one out of the Wilderness Lodge last September, and despite trying numerous spots on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon, our guide was unable to find us any fish (apparently it was the same deal with the other people on excursions at that time). I've been fishing for most of my life, so I know it happens sometimes. Well...my girlfriend and I are heading back to Disney again at the end of August, and we've made it a point to go on another fishing excursion to see if I can finally land my first largemouth over 2 pounds (something I've wanted to do since I was in 4th grade), so I'm trying to find out if it would be better to hit Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon again, or if we should try Crescent Lake or some other place. I've read about lots of other people catching a number of fish on these excursions, but they didn't mention what lake(s) they were on. One person even went as far as to say that it was some of the best bass fishing he'd ever had...I wonder what lake he was on because I'd love to experience that end of the spectrum! :-) Can anyone give me some advice from firsthand experience? I'd really like to avoid getting skunked again on this next excursion, so any help/info would be very much appreciated! Thanks! Andy Last edited by asj410; 07-14-2006 at 08:02 PM. |

Re: Fishing at Disney World?
Hey Andy! I can't help, but I just wanted to say welcome to Mousebuzz! If I were you, I'd try Seven Seas/Bay Lake again. The other lakes are so small it'd be a boring excursion I'd think... .

Re: Fishing at Disney World?
Welcome to Mousebuzz. I've not done the fishing excursions at WDW, but it might not hurt to call and find out who charters the excursions. Then call and ask them which lake is best.

Welcome. Here is a link to the WDW site:
Disney's Dream Maker Fishing Packages Never done it but with the catch and release they should have some nice sized fish. The guides will know the best areas to head to I'm guessing.

Re: Fishing at Disney World?
Welcome to MB. I also know that there is fishing at FW. They have rivers/canals that run through and you can fish there. It is not an excursion per se. You can rent rods and tackle and fish on you own. Don' know about the size of the fish though.

Re: Fishing at Disney World?
I read somewhere that originally the lakes were stocked with 70,000 large mouth bass. Typical catch ranges from 2-8 lbs. My DH is going to rent rods while we are down there next summer and take the boys by POR on their own early one morning. He loves to fish.
Hope you find what your looking for.

Re: Fishing at Disney World?
Hey Andy,
It was just the other day, or so it seems (our trip came to an end on the 24th of June) ![]() Anyway, the day before we left, me and 10 year old DS, did some pier side fishing at the Fishin' Hole at Port Orleans Riverside. We've been fishing a few times before here at home, with nary a nibble. So you can imagine how cool I thought it would be if he were to catch his first fish @ WDW. His line wasn't in the water more than 2 minutes, before he was reelin' 'em in. You'd have thunk there was a diver down there hooking the fish for him. Managed to pull in a few catfish and bass, but more bluegills than anything. I think he smiled more that morning, than he did our whole trip.
