An ex of mine went to DLR with myself and his family for the first (and only) time and HATED it. In fact I went several more times with his sisters and parents and he stayed home.

That alone should have told me that things just wouldn't work out...

I have to vote yes - but I can't say they're insane - they just like to annoy me by saying they hate it. We have a friend who calls it "The Evil Kingdom" - just to bug me. He's never even been, but says he'll "never sink that low".

We also have another friend - a psychologist - who so anal he just absolutely couldn't handle it. I wouldn't say he "hates" it - but he's certainly "afraid" of it. Come to think of it - maybe he is insane...

My ex-boyfriend was one of those that insisted I was "getting suckered into one of those evil massive corporate conglomorates." Then he'd go to Wal-Mart to buy more comic books and video games or something

haha, even though he hated it he still always wanted to go with me. HMMM.

Otherwise, nobody in my family dislikes Disney, or Dan's family either.

OH, Dan's best friend Steve hates it. He makes fun of Dan EVERYTIME we go, he INSISTS we are "wasting our money on expensive hamburgers & fries and seeing the same crap over and over again." (Umm, I did NOT have ONE french fry on this WHOLE trip & well only one hambuger, but I spilled water all over it anyway )

OMG, that is HILARIOUS!!!! But it's also something DH says to me!!!

Sadly, my VERY OWN DH hates going to WDW!!!! I just had this discussion with him today, asking him WHY he dislikes going so much. He says "Kim, we've been on 14 trips there. How many times can you see the same things over and over?" And he is SO mistaken, since there are things we still haven't seen after that many trips!!!

He just DOESN'T "GET IT". And luckily I have my DS TOTALLY brainwashed and he ABSOLUTELY L VES everything Disney! Especially Disney World! And DD is only 15 months, but she's already getting brainwashed, don't you worry.

DH knows he will have to suck it up and go EVERY SINGLE YEAR. YAY!!!!!

If anyone in my family (aunts or uncles etc) think I'm a nutter for liking Disney so much, they haven't spoken up. Thank goodness.

I don't think I have many friends who blatantly hate Disney either. I mean, they don't viciously tease or attack me over it. If they just flat out didn't like, whatever. Their loss!

Though I can understand the whole 'evil conglomerate place to waste money at'. Some people (like me) are very frugal. Luckily I have enough Disney magic to keep me doing back to WDW anyway.

My brother hates WDW. His idea of a good time is spending the summer in the jungles of South America looking at plants (he's a botanist).
Sometimes I think one of us must have been adopted.

I'm glad some people don't like Disney. Then I don't have to put up with them at Disney! When we go to something like Six Flags, all personalities are there. We always manage to get in line behind the "cool" twenty something, where they speak a swear word every other word! I'm sure they would never set foot in Disney. That's one of the reasons why I love it so much. Every one there gets it, and appreciates what a wonderful world it could be if you took away the dirt and attitude. You are amongst people who like the magic, not the smut.

Kim - Eugene saddens me - I must light a candle for him tonight! Wait until he sees how much Genavive grows to love WDW when she gets older...maybe that will change his mind.....

Last night my DH said to me, "Do you know what I love most about WDW?"..."the smell of Main Street"! WHAT!?!?!? I was like, YOU are a Disney FREAK just like me. I said, "I have to run and tell my friends on MB" and Kevin was like, "THAT was just between you and me" !!!! HAHAHA! I never thought I would hear him say something like that just out of the blue so there is hope for Eugene - I'm telling you, there is!!

BTW - I have a friend who says she "hates" WDW but she and her husband go every year with her parents, sister and neice. They only stay at the GF and have been doing this for about 7 years now......She just doens't want to admit she loves it and I don't know why?

Uh, I mean, everyone has their own tastes, and we should be understanding and respect their choices.

I know a person, from a previous job of mine, who refused to go to any Disney parks, buy Disney products, or watch Disney movies. He is convinced that Walt was a Nazi supporter, anti-semetic, and a few other choice opinions. My answer was always (this was in the early 1990s) basically, even if it was all true (which I always told him I doubted...being that by then I had a B.A. in American History) Walt had been dead for over twenty years and so what would his personal political beliefs have to do with the parks and movies TODAY. He'd still argue and try to call me a Nazi for supporting Disney. One day I became his supervisor and he all of a sudden didn't want to discuss it anymore.

Yes...My husband doesn't hate it but he just doesn't understand why it is that I love it so much. He says it's just ok. He doesn't see why we have to go more than once a year. He rolls his eyes when I start talking about it.

A girl I work with told me she was going to Disney, but not the MAIN part of Disney, but rather Universal because she likes that better.

I laughed in her face and called her stupid. I guess I shouldn't have done that huh?
