our last camping trip I was talking to a 5 yr old who asked me about my t-shirt which was grumpy.. I told her I had met Grumpy in person at WDW ..she said "they are just people dressed up like cartoons" omg .. I am 50 somthing and they are not people dressed up like cartoons!!!!
actually I felt so bad for this little girl.. at 5 there is no magic in her life and I guess no imagination.
while not all my friends share my deep devotion to all things Disney, they love and understand me :) even enough to put up with me at other theme parks.

My Dad hates disney. When I was a kid, I only went 1 time. During my childhood my father would carry on about the price and so on. A few years ago I invited my Dad to join me and my kids at DL. Well time changed nothing! He complained about everything. This year we are going to WDW for 7 days. Now Dad is mad that I didn't invite him. Go figure!

We were in Toon Town at DL once and got in line at Mickey's house to go visit him and have a picture taken. Another family went by and this guys two kids both were excited and said "There's Mickey's house, can we go see him?" The father scowled and said something like "I'm not standing in that long line just to see a rat."

It amazes me. Why bother bringing your kids to DL/WDW if you are going to be a jerk about it? I can only imagine that those kids found nothing but disappointment in that trip and it actually saddens me.

I hate to admit it, but my DH went so many times when he was younger, that it really would not bother himn if we never went back again. I, on the other hand, hardly ever went anywhere as a child, so I have mucho time to make up for it, and I have picked Disney and all things Disney as my preferred obsession. And my DH can just get over it!!

My sister and brother in-law did not like Disney. They slept in, then hit the parks late and had to stand in long rides! Brother-in-law complained and Disney gave him free passes for his entire family of 6! Over 10 years ago!

He will not go back, but sis keeps "thinking" about it!

In my own experience, the people I've known who hated Disney turned out to be so tediously cynical (in general, and who dropped out of my life anyway) that I'm well rid of them.

I'll make one exception for a particularly lovable curmudgeon we know, but he's rare.
