Annual/ Seasonal pass benefits?

Ok I admit, I've been itching to post this question over the past week but never got the chance. I recently looked over some photo albums of my families past trips to disney world in the past 2 or so years. It seems that my family goes 2-3 times a year. I also realized that we lived only 4 hours from the mouse. I put two and two together and came up with the brillitant idea (that I feel so stupid for not thinking about before) that my family (atleast me and my mom, the 2 REAL disney fans in the family) buy disney annual or seasonal passes!! It seems totally logical, doesnt it? Parkhopping and reduced rates for a yearly fee! But I'm gonna need evidence to win my parents over. This is where you guys come in.
Do any of you that have annual passes have great stories to share about saving money on trips? And Im alittle unsure about the whole benefits thing, what exactly are the resort rates for AP holders? Is there a website with them that I can check out? The only ones I can find are from last year. It seems the pass for us is the annual one, not seasonal. I dont like the black out dates, but are SP holders elidgle for the discounts at hotels? Also are their discounts for the florida residents wanting to buy AP's?
Thanks to anyone that responds! I just need convincing reasons why people should own an AP.
Joe:)

I just went to the disney store today and bough myself and my son an Fl resident AP. We do get a discount on them. You can go to Disney.com and look under reservations and tickets, be sure to click on the Fl resident icon, and check out the prices. Plus if you have the DIsney Club card, you get another discount!! We will not be using them until June, but I know they will save us money, as we usually go at least 4- 5 times a year, now we will be able to go more often. Good luck!

I think my brain farted.

Seriously, I don't know what happened. you know when you type up a great email and the thing just disappears on you? I call it Vaporware. Latest thing in uploadables.

OK, how about this. I love to travel, but can't afford to buy the Ultimate Hoppers every time we go, and the discounts were great. Actually, it was becasue of the room discounts that we got the passes. Actually, I say "we" but I couldn't afford to do it on my own, since I have such a limited income. My kids scrimped and saved and paid for their own. I was so proud of them, and they are so proud of their passes.

What I love best is being able to go from park to park on a whim, or be able to walk into a resort and know I'm getting the rock bottom dollar pricing. For my kids though, it was the Annual Passholder lounges. They said the price of admission was the "Passholder Only" lounges with the free video games and soda and a place to call their own, right at Disney. I sure hope they bring them back this summer.

Thanks guys for the responses! I know what you mean MickeyMac, the email thing has happened to me one-to-many-times!:devil The pass must be extra special for your kids, it's something they earned. I'm in the process of Job hunting now since Im 16 which is the required age at pretty much any store. I have shocking news though! Guess what my parents said when I told them I wanted to get the AP? My mom said that once I turn 18 she will buy me an AP every year as my b-day and christmas gifts combined! She hates shopping, and figured that was a nice present to cover xmas and bday. Unfortunately I got 2 more years, lol. Thanks agian guys!
