Interactive Little Mermaid Ride?

I just received my latest Home Theater magazine and in it they do an interview with one of the guys who does imagineering for Disney's rides. In the interview they mention that the new release of the Little Mermaid DVD has an interactive ride thru of the Little Mermaid Ride that Almost Was. As an added plus on the DVD they go into details of how the special effects would have been done.

I already own Little Mermaid on videocasette, but would consider buying the DVD if it is as cool as they say.

So has anyone checked it out yet?

I have! I SO wish that they put the ride in the park... It would be amazing!

It's REALLY awesome. I would recommend getting the dvd...if you like the movie and its something you'd want to invest in. The ride was crazy good, I felt like I was at Disney World!

Okay, my DS and I have watched the Ride That Almost was several times and it kills me that that ride was never created, it would have been awesome. I'm not sure it's worth buying the DVD if you already had it but I would get the DVD just to upgrade from VHS, this will just make it a little more worth it.

I owned an older version of The Little Mermaid, but bought the special addition for the extras on disk 2. My dd loves it.

In the interview the gentleman from Disney said that the reason it never got built was the success of Beauty and the Beast kind of overshadowed Little Mermaid. But he hinted that if there was a real resurgance of interest the ride might still come to be. Apparently the imagineers really liked it. Guess I will have to at least rent the movie and decide if it is a must own.

I would love to see this ride built, it looked amazing. I love Peter Pan and this looks like it would be 10 times better than that.

the dvd is wonderful. they have a nice 45 minute featurette on how the little mermaid was made, lots of deleted scenes, etc. i recommend getting it.

Don't you wish they would rehab Peter Pan? It is my son's favorite and it is such a special family ride for us. It just really is in need of some sprucing up.

GrumpyDad, I have the LM on VHS and have been upgrading as DVD's come out. The picture is so much clearer on DVD - my VHS cassette is sooooo worn out! You should get it just to have a better version of the movie.
