Adding someone to your plan?

Since posting is cheaper then a long distance call to disney...

Does anyone know if I can add a person to our plan after it's paid and before we go?

Stu and I are thinking of asking DSs girlfriend to join us. She'd have to fly down though (she's flown by herself before) since we're at max with 6 in our car already.

And...while I have your attention...

what's the etiquette here? is it unreasonable to expect that she pay her way? (she has a job) to just pay for airfare? or if we invite her, should be pay? or slip it?

As a parent, if someone was taking my child to disney, I would expect and insist on paying...but i'm like that.

we haven't said anything to ds yet...

dana ~ if you dont' mind me asking, how did it go with you dd friend?

You can add someone as far as I know at any time. Mickey would be the best one to answer this however as he is the expert. I don't see why you can't though. I added DBF and his son to a reservation after it was already booked for just me and my DD.

AS for the etiquette: she should pay her own airfare, dining plan, park pass and have spending money. I wouldn't ask her to chip in for the room. DD's DF paid for all of the above and her park pass. I would never ask someone to pay for the room. I treated DBF and his DS on all of the above. It was christmas and birthday presents for both. I only bought a base ticket for DS and his father did the add-ons with a hopper and DBF paid for the kids to go to the water park. DBF's DN paid for his airfare, dining plan and he had an AP becuase he went in February with friends and his mom grabbed the AP knowing he was going with us in October.

Re: Adding someone to your plan?

I called an added a friend to our plan about 2 or 3 weeks before we arrived. It was painless.

There is a sticky thread with several 1-800 #s!! No need to call long distance!

As for bringing a friend, I think it does complicate the vacation. Personally, I wouldn't do it again. The ages of the friends also plays a part. Well-bahaved teens are easier to host than younger kids.

I didn't know they had 800# i'll have to find that sticky ~ thanks for the heads up.

As for bringing her ~ my DS is a bit older then my other 3 and although he loves disney and would enjoy it no matter what, he doesn't seem to fit into the adult catagory or the kids catagory so I know he would love to have her with him.

I really dont' think she'll be a problem. She's 17, has traveled without her parents before and she's just a great kid.

Thanks!! I wasn't sure and it was one of those "is this a dumb question" question

Oh, I totally agree ~ I wouldn't expect her to pay for the room as it's already paid for anyway, KWIM? We have two rooms that sleep 8 and we're just 6.

It's just her dining plan and her park passes

Thanks for the info dana!

You are very welcome. I didn't think you would ask her to chip in. I just mentioned it. If it were a bunch of kids going without adults, then she should definately chip in, but if you are inviting her to come, then I don't think she should.

How old is she? If she's DS's girlfriend I imagine HS age right??

I actually went skiing with my high school boyfriends family over Christmas Break one year...they invited me, but my parents paid for my lift ticket and snowboard rentals and all that. They also gave me money to give to my BF's family for food (since we had a condo and his mom cooked) and then gave me money to pitch in when we went out to eat...although his parents were very sweet ..they took the money, after my parents insisted, and then they went and bought me a very nice ski jacket and my parents a bottle of wine..(I am not sure why they bought them a gift..i mean they DID take a very rambunctious teenager off my parents hands for a few days)
As far as the condo cost we didn't pay anything bc they had rented a huge condo that would have been empty anyways...so basically..yes..her or her parents SHOULD pay for food and tickets..but as far as the hotel..unless they offer I wouldnt expect her to pitch in for that.

Thats just Bellas two sense.

I have nothing to add that hasn't been said, but I think it's cool that you're considering doing something so great!
