Operation Shoebox

DS came home with a really neat way to support the troops regardless of your political affiliation - his class is collecting donations for Operation Shoebox (the stuff they are collecting is all stuff the services do not provide.)

Anwyas, wanted to share. Check it out at OperationShoebox.com

Yes, this is a great idea.

FYI, what they need most is toilet paper, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Let me say that the BEST thing is the Phone Card program thru Red Cross. I had a friend who was able to talk to her husband for the first time in a month because someone was generous enough to donate $20 to American Red Cross for the phone call. She was in tears!! Just a thought!!:D

Our local Wal-mart has a trashcan located near the entrance/exit for donations to the troops. On the list were items like deodorant...and baby wipes.

Cool Trish, no sweat off our brow to buy TP and toothpaste and stick it in the pail. I'll have to see if ours has one, or let the sixth graders know so they can put up a bucket, hopefully.

WBG, do you have any info on that phone card program? I can't find any info on it.
