Yikes and YAY!

So we are in the midst of planning a completely LAST minute WDW vacation - completely last minute as in leaving in 10 days!! LOL So - it'll be dh and myself and our three kids, one of who will be having a birthday when we're there - so 4,6 and turning 9.

Has anyone stayed in a "family suite" at AS Music? We've only stayed at DVCs and the Wilderness Lodge on property. The other option is the Royal Plaza which has a king suite for an incredibly great price.

And the dining plan - seems like a great deal to me but is it worth it - is it easy to use - ahhhhhhh!!!! I need to cram a whole lotta planning into a very short time. Pirates & Princess Party - think it's too late to get tix for one night>

And I'm keeping it a surprise from the kids - waking them up that morning (way early) by blaring some "when you wish up on a star" and putting new Mickey shirts on them....

Re: Yikes and YAY!

WOW Cheryl, that is an awesome last minute trip! My kids would FLIP!

I haven't stayed in a family suite, but they are appealing to me! Every kid gets their own bed, and DH and I would have our own room, plus TWO bathrooms!

If you do the DDP, you will need to stay on property (so it would not be available for you to purchase if you stayed at the Royal Plaza). I don't have any experience with the DP, and the only negatives I read are 1.) It's too much food and 2.) you need to plan your ADRs in advance. If you will do a sit down and a counter service everyday, it can be a tremendous value.

Re: Yikes and YAY!

I hear the rooms are great, but I would rather have 2 adjoining rooms if I could.

As for the meal plan, it is intimidating at first, but once you do it, you will love it.

Re: Yikes and YAY!

I don't to get know if it will be too busy to get ADR's or not.. If you are going during president's day week- then it will be crowded. You will have so much fun! The dining plan is worth it- if you can get ADR's.

Oh- call about the Pirate and princess party. It will be fun!

Re: Yikes and YAY!

Hey!!!

We'll see you there, we are leaving in 11 days!!!

They have a P&P party on the 15th. You should check out if there's any tickets available.

You can only get the dining plan if you're staying onsite, so I'd pick the family suites at All Stars. The dining plan is great. We love it. Be sure to get your ADR's though, especially for the second half of the week. I'd hate for you to have the plan and not be able to eat anywhere you wanted.

Welcome back to DC (now MouseBuzz), Cheryl!!!

I havne't stayed in a family suite so I can't help you there but it looks great in pictures.

We used the dining plan last May and loved it. It was sooo easy to use, we didn't have any problems and it did save us some money.

We surprised my son with a trip last May. It was so fun planning it but he didn't react the way I thought he would but it's a funny story, he ended up fine but he wasn't jumping up and down excited like I thought he would be.

Re: Yikes and YAY!

Ok I just booked it & had a great and super helpful CM take my reservations. We'll be staying at the AS Music family suites - she talked me into it over 2 rooms so we'll see how it goes! I have tickets to the Pirates & Princess Party the night we get there (next Monday) after dinner at Tony's.

Tuesday is my dd's birthday & we're going to Donalds Breakfastsaurus for breakfast - not sure what else that day. Wednesday is Fantasmic & Mama Melrose. Thursday is Teppanyaki for dinner. Other than that, we are sorta plans free for now. I'm bummed that 'Ohana is booked except for 9:30 pm which is way too late for my crew.

Oh - and we have the dining plan. I'm not debating a car rental vs. Magic Express and buses. Any comments? And anyone want to throw another restaurant out there to round out our spur of the moment week? LOL

I'm soooo stinkin excited!!!

Re: Yikes and YAY!

I would go with the All-Stars and stay on-site. Also, the DDP depends on how much you eat. A few say it's too much food, but I'd like to try it some day.

Re: Yikes and YAY!

Rlander & I surprised our kids 2 years ago.. 7 & 10 at the time. We made all of our plans like 5 months in advance. We kept everything a secret. I even packed the night before while they were off swimming at DG house. We woke them up at 3am and told them to wake up, we are going to WDW. They totally did not believe us. We were like.. come on... lets go.. we have a plane to catch. They were absolutely shocked! It was the best surprise ever! They still talk about it. I think they hold out each night... hopeing for a surprise like that again... you never know! :)

Re: Yikes and YAY!

WOW... sounds like you got everything under control on a short amount of time. We used ME in September and had no problem with it.
I kinda liked not having to lug my bags from the airport.
Our only downside was the ME terminals were down when we left so we had to take our luggage on ME, but that is no biggy...

Have a great time, I love Tony's - and so does my entire family - We also enjoyed Le Cellier... I highly recommend it.

Have a great trip
