Comparing July to August
I usually go to WDW around the second or third week of July. I was wondering what would be different if I went during the second or third week of August. Is the weather any different? How are the crowds?
I'm asking in advance, because I think DH is caving into the idea of us going for our anniversary!

Re: Comparing July to August
Since you are used to the heat, I don't think that would make a difference to you. August is HOT just like July! However, if you go towards the END of August, the crowds thin out SUBSTANCIALLY because a lot of states are back to school. We don't go back until 2 or 3 days after Labor Day, so we are going the last week of August.
If I were you, I'd book August...there is a chance FREE DINING will be announced to the public in March/April!!!!!

Re: Comparing July to August
Oh I would love it if free dining were announced. I could definitely get DH on board then!

Re: Comparing July to August
The weather is about the same. Very hot and humid. The crowds do thin out a little towards the end of August, but it puts you a little closer to hurricane season (more September, early October), but still needs to be watched for.

Re: Comparing July to August
very hooooooooott and very humid during both times but more so during August...another tid bit..August is the height of hurricane season so while a hurricane may or may not hit August in the south is known summer showers...however--i think the free dining will entice me to "suck it up!"

Re: Comparing July to August
July and August are both hot, but after about the second week of August the crowds thin out and you can sometimes get free dining!!! Also, July seems to be when huge crowds of people from South America come on tour. They have leaders with big flags and the people follow them around like a herd of cattle. When they decide to get in line for a ride they fill up the whole line area. I would go in August and cross my fingers for free dining.

Re: Comparing July to August
Florida Kids and many southern states have kids go back to school the 3rd Monday in August. The crowds are much lower as of this date.
