I personally haven't stayed at WL, but I have stayed at the Contemporary. It was O.K. for us, the rooms needed a little upgrade, but the view was awesome. We were in the tower overlooking the kingdom. I had coffee every morning on our balcony and I would watch them start up the Magic Kingdom everymorning. Being on the monorail loop is a definite plus.

Have not stayed at either but we did have friends stay at WL so I got to see the place pretty close.

It is amazingly nice!:D

We are hoping to stay there in October. It would be my choice out of the two although we did stay at AKL. It was stunning.

I guess I would pick the Contemporary Tower room over WL simply for the convenience of monorail access. But if I were picking between a Contemporary wing room or WL I would go for the WL. The resort is newer, really beautiful and less expensive.

My 1st pick would be the Polynesian... but you didn't ask about that one :hmmm  ! Just had to throw that in!

I would go with WL, it really has a lot of charm, and is very nice. The contemporary is definitely cool, but except for the view of fireworks (which you could see from other monorail resorts, even some WL beach/dock areas and select rooms), and the novelty of the monorail running straight through, I think it's a bit over rated for the price. It's also just a personal thing with us, it's just a bit too loud and art deco for us, it reminds us of this really bizarre hotel we stayed at in Hong Kong. You could always try a night at each for a test run!

I agree with disneypro...the Contemporary has always been decorated a little too, well, 60's-ish for us. WL is much more our style. We stayed there March of 2002 & absolutely loved it. Between those 2, WL would BY FAR be my choice.

I have yet to stay at either, BUT we are staying at the WL in Aug. We based our decision on our children. We thought they would enjoy the outdoorsy decor, the cool geyser, and bunk beds. It seemed to be a more "homey" resort. It was also great for our budget. I know having the monorail is nice, but I believe the WL offers more "theme".:D
