While at WDW I read in one of Disney's guides
this little statement at the very bottom in small print. "For residents of Canada, a mathematical skill-testing question must be correctly answered to win any prize." This was in regards to Disney Dreams. Now I know that a few yearsback you folks took a beating on TV with those beer guys But what is this? Are the questionslike 1+1=2? And why are they just pointing out Canadians? Whats up with this Llama?

Re: Whats up with this...folks from Canada?
To win any contest in Canada you must first answer a skill testing question. I actually don't know why, but that is always the case. And yes, it is a mathematical question, but usually a little more difficult than 1+1. More like (9-2)x2+3=?.
I'm going to ask around and see if anyone knows why there has to be a skill testing question. The thing I don't get is why we would have to do that for a contest being run in the U.S. Very strange. Did you happen to notice if residents of Quebec were excluded? We often are, something to do with having to pay tax on prizes. I think it is just too complicated for most companies outside of Canada to deal with so they just exclude residents of Quebec. If we are excluded I'll have to say I live somewhere else when they tap me on the shoulder to sleep in the castle next week. Kathy

Actually check this out Skill testing question - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "the Canadian Criminal Code bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, and licensed casinos and charity events....These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally have mathematical skill-testing questions incorporated." |

Re: Whats up with this...folks from Canada?
Us Canadians are too polite to ask why ourselves so I'll thank Franco on behalf of all of us. LOL I hope I get the chance to answer one or two when we go in August.
