Re: changes in dining plan.

Eh, I don't like the changes. I liked having the tip included and never had any bad service experiences while on the plan, just the opposite in fact.

This will probably deter me from using the DDP in the future. It would be nice if they could include one appetizer per party on the sitdown meals instead of taking it away all together.

OH, another thing I noticed. On the DELUXE plan, your meals WILL include appetizers. YAY...even more food.

3 table service a day? would be a deluxe vacation for sure - but not sure I would be happy with my waistline when I got home!! imagine - all those dining choices - they'd better add some CM's to that ADR hotline!! lol!

Well, you could add two meals together and make it 1 two point meal every day until you run out of meals, Yummmmm

That's the ONLY way I would do that plan. Otherwise, I'd come home 20 pounds heavier.

Re: changes in dining plan.

I'll just state my opinion. That stinks. I liked it the way it was!

I usually never eat like that but I LOVE too when I am on vacation. And the tip not included part can be good and bad..servers may feel like they have to work for their tips again (good..some were seriously MIA after they found out we were on the plan) but then you'll always have to make sure you have enough cash on you (bad).

I think it's the only way you COULD do the plan, otherwise you'd be sitting in the restaurants more than you'd visit the parks and rides. But it's a good way to deal with it.

I would definitely by that plan.

Re: changes in dining plan.

I think they are getting a little greedy. If they added a couple of bucks per person I dont think people would mind as much. This could be good for us without the meal plan we could split our vacation with other parks we are not locked in with the meal plan.

Its about time that these servers that are not being polite learn its not a fast 18% at the end of the meal. We are good tippers with good service, this will make all those if servers fine tune there serving style!
I totally agree - at places where we had remarkable service we always left something extra - but it really annoyed me knowing the server was getting 18% when they barely acknowledged your existence. (This happened at two restaurants - it was all smiles until they knew we were on the dining plan and then it was downgraded to "I'll show up with your food" ) There's no way my dh would ever go for the deluxe plan - the amount of food is way beyond our capabilities.

I think this sounds great. I think if gratuity isnt included the service will be better.

Re: changes in dining plan.

I think that when they hear all the complaints about the poor service people are getting they know that at somepoint that they will stop going to that place [i]as often[i] so they are smart enough to say hey ,lets take the tip out and make these men and women give the service these people deserve.

I have no problem dishing out the tip, dh and I are 20% tippers unless they are not so great then its 15% ( we did the restuarant bit our entire lives).

here is a chance for all the [i]GREAT[i] servers to make MORE of a table instead of people saying oh well its included.

Iknow there are alot of table service places I want to try but usually run out of "credits" so I then pay OOP or don't do them. NOW I can try things I have not yet! Plus we still get a APPs at night and if you want you can use them as Counter meals not TS meals.

I don't think the wine thing will go over but then again , I don't usually drinks so i should not be one to judge either. a glass of wine is about it for me maybe 2 glasses tops.

Re: changes in dining plan.

I agree that a big reason I was so drawn to try the DDP this trip is the ease of not having a bill at dinner. How annoying to have to take care of the gratuity. Don't get me wrong, I want the CM's to be taken care of because most of them work really hard. However, it just takes away a lot of the convenience. I don't imagine many people will miss the appetizer as it seems to be a lot just reading all the food that you get on the plan.

I must say this irks me as well!!! I thought the dining plan was awesome!!! We had more than enough food last time with two adults and a 2-yr old eating off our plates. I'm not so upset about the appetizer, but taking away the gratuity is a huge blow...that was one of the best parts of the plan.

Re: changes in dining plan.

Having only used the DDP once myself, it was nice to have the tip in there . . . and I NEVER had a problem with any service . . . everyone was really friendly. AND, we always tipped extra on the cocktails bill anyway! Well, I guess at the end-of-August when the new rates come out we'll find out if this is a rumor or not . . . right?

In other words, I have to agree with posters, gratuity included in the DP can/will make for lazy and impolite severs.

Now let's talk about the appetizers, what's up with that? Why not make the portions a little smaller, who in the world can eat heaps of food piled on to one's plate anyway? Portion control wouldn't hurt any of us (I know you can limser, I was talking about other people)
Hey! The only MATH I should be doing when I'm there is adding photos to the food thread for you all to drool over!!!
