Yes well, you have a point there, mm. You do produce some really fine food photos and are excused from doing math at WDW. You can call over the restaurant manager and make him do it for you

I am really torn about the whole tip part. honestly, there are just some bad servers out there - ddp or not. i work with some who are like that - they just don't care/are clueless. it drives me nuts. I can't let their tables suffer so i take care of them and mine. makes them look worse, but at least the table is happy. a bad server won't always be better just because they have to work more for the tip now. it may be more of a case of wanting to turn the table quicker (ie rushing you) so they get more tips. especially if the bill won't be as large (with no app).

just a thought. sorry, seemed like a bit of a rant - had a bad night as a server tonight!

That's a great idea - make it one or the other. That way even if it's just 2 people you can share one appy and one dessert.

I like that idea alot! we NEVER order dessert - but would love the app. it would be great to share each.

wonder if the desserts are a bigger mark up (money maker) for them, and that's why they are cutting apps, and leaving desserts?

I guess it's the opposite? If appetizers cost more then they would make more money off of them if people pay OOP for them....does that make sense? I'm really tired and should be .

Desserts are a definite money maker...like when they serve the cakes...it takes just a few bucks to make a cake and they turn around and sell ONE slice of it for 5-7 bucks. No matter how much it looks like we are getting a steal on the DDP, WDW still makes their money...the upcharge on food is unreal...it takes pennies to make some of those dishes.

So... we need to start a movement here. Either App or Dessert!

DH had to be talked into getting the DP again and it has less to do with the price and more to do with the amount of food. Coming from the "finish your plate" era and the desire to get full value, it's hard to stick to a reasonable diet with all this great food available. I kept reminding everyone "you don't have to eat all that", "you can order less or sample different items without rolling outta here!"

This option would be an easier sell.

As to tip, we do prefer the convenience of it being included. Most CM's are awesome and we often leave an extra tip, appreciation for what is tough work. I leave a note for bad service saying "Sorry, we would have left a tip but ...!" Otherwise you get labelled as "stiffing CM" and they still don't get the message.

I have an even better suggestion-

how about if you were given credits so that it would work like this

Counter service is 5 credits
Sitdown is 10 Credits
appetizer/dessert/snack is 5 credits
signature meals 20 credits but include app and dessert

you get 25 credits per day per person and you can mix and match them. Pretty simple right?
