Nick Hotel
We were invited to go to the Nick Hotel by ds's friend's parents. They asked if we wanted to share a 2 bedroom Spongebob suite for 2 days with them. If we share the suite it will cost about $325 total per couple...approx. So for $160 per night it didnt sound bad. Sounded like a fun time...we know the kids will LOVE it. It is the weekend before Halloween.
I was reading all the reviews that I could find. I am a little worried now. Almost all of the reviews are horrible. They say the rooms are dirty, musty and damp, the staff poor, and the food not so good. I am really surprised because the hotel charges alot to stay there. Has anyone been to this place in the last 3-6 months? I would love a first hand review. It kills me to go to a place with such horrible reviews but I believe the other couple already booked it (non-refundable...she booked it online) and we told ds about it. Thanks |

Re: Nick Hotel
I stayed there back in Dec. 06. It was okay, it was over rated and over priced in my oppion. Everyone in the room has to ware hospital type wristbands from the time of check in until check out. If you dont have one on you can not use the pools and such. And also if you lose the wristband it is like 25.00 to replace it. you cant do anything with out them. The rooms were okay, I did find trash under the one chair from how ever many guests before us. They do have a PS in the room that you can rent movies from the game room for i think like 5.00 a day. The food at the sit down restrant for dinner is good. the counter service is like a small food court-if i remember right has like 3 counter service places. The staff was out there. It was like if you ask them something they looked at you like your from mars. The weight staff at the restrant took the time to talk to us and such and also one other person (think was managment) but that was only because he over heard me on the phone saying what a bad start to our vacation it was. (we had stuff stolen out of luggage at the Philliy airport) The gift shop is like a toss over from stuff from Universal. Nothing with the hotels name on it. And you also have to have your room keys to get on and off the property.
Hope that helps. Over all if we booked it a year in advance and got it for 100.00 a night like we did last year we would stay again to be able to go to sea world before moving to WDW.

Re: Nick Hotel
Kim-
Thanks for the reply. I didnt think I was EVER going to get a response. Like I mentioned, we are sharing a suite with friends so our share comes to about $160 per night. My concern is the cleanliness of the place. I dont need "deluxe" accomodations but a clean bathroom and bed are musts. And if the room smells we definitely will ask to be moved. THKS AGAIN Cara |

Re: Nick Hotel
We are staying there before we check-in to WDW and I am a little worried by all the negative posts I have seen, but hopefully it will be OK.

Re: Nick Hotel
I went to the Nick Hotel in July. I was with my wife father and 6 year old daughter. The place was CRAZY! The place was just different then Disney. I don’t think it’s fair to compare them to Disney, but I thought with how much I see it on TV I thought it would be a little classer (especially for the money we paid, $300.00 for 1 night in a Danny Phantom room). The place was over crowded, but my daughter LOVED the water park that is the pool. I said "Well its summertime and that can be expected.” Well it started to get dark and they were going to have a movie at the pool. All the kids are in the pool and we were having a hard time seeing our daughter. With all the craziness I told her to get out of the pool. She was unable to make her way to me through all the kids so I told her to go to the other end. When I got there she was gone. PANIC! I was yelling her name, I couldn’t see her because it was dark and everyone was facing the screen. All three of us were yelling her name, but no one could hear us. This is the part when I got very angry. I went to a life guard and told him I couldn’t find her. He had this look of Oh not this again. He said what color is her hair, what color bathing suit is she wearing, like man I was watching Drake and Josh, I don’t have time for this. After 3 min. we found her. It was the longest 3 min. of my life. I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

How scary! OMG. I am not sure how the crowds will be the weekend before Halloween. Thanks for the info. I dont think I would even venture to the pool after dark if it were that crowded. I hear there are shows in the hotel at night so maybe will will stick with that and the arcade. Maybe do the mini-golf it is available. We have seasonal tickets for WDW so we may even swing over there at night if the hotel is over crowded. We will see... How are the suites at the Nick hotel? How hard or comfortable are the beds? Was the room clean? Details please!!! lol Thks |

Re: Nick Hotel
Well we had a very positive experience at the Nick Hotel. We went September of 06. We were in the two bedroom suite. We had a king size bed and the kids had bunk beds. The was also a living room area with a kitchenette. Our room was very clean and well kept . Check in was easy and every staff member we encountered was nice.
We stayed for two nights a Wednesday and Thursday night. We got a really good rate on line, about 149 a night. My kids loved the pool area. We were there all day long Wednesday and Thursday . Our room over looked the water slides with the giant slime bucket so we had a really nice view of the pool. We stayed after a week at Disney so it was very nice to just sit by the pool. We enjoyed it and would go back again. Would I pay 300.00 a night ...no. But if we could get a good rate like we did last time.. sure it was a lot of fun. We also did the character breakfast which was fun. We saw Dora, Patrick and Squidward. We also saw Sponge Bob. They also have a food court. It is sort of like a mall food court with places like subway, pizza hut, etc( I do not rememember the exact fast food places) Would I compare it to Disney. No, because it is not Disney. It is a Holiday Inn hotel with a water park. Have fun and enjoy the pool! |

Re: Nick Hotel
I have never stayed here, but just had a friend stay and say that they loved it. This person is used to staying in deluxe hotels so I am sure that it will be fine. I will try and find out what room she was staying in.

Re: Nick Hotel
I've never been, but I think the place looks awesome...
The crowds shouldn't be too bad in October. That's a pretty good rate, but consider: Who is getting the master bedroom? Are there two bathrooms? It's not a bunk-bed suite, is it? Where will your kids sleep? Do you feel comfortable enough to room with this family? Whenever we go on a trip and room/house with another family, the main problem, usually, is who will get the master bedroom. My parents usually forfeit the room (although they are also usually the ones who booked the place). When we go on ski trips with another family, they alternate (but the other family is never happy when they don't get the master). It can be a touchy situation. Well, I think the place looks fun. I'm not sure about conditions, but as long as you're near the world, you're sure to have a great time! (by the way... I always thought that the should have made Nick Hotel closer to Universal Studios. I mean... Nick isn't Disney, but they have Nick at Universal. I'll probably never stay there just because we prefer to stay on-site when we visit... actually, with the express, we prefer to stay on-site when we visit Universal, as well.)

Re: Nick Hotel
Who is getting the master bedroom?
Since we were invited by the other family...I think they would get first shot at the Master bedroom. I would rather we have it but it isnt a big deal (dh snores!) Are there two bathrooms? I believe the 2 bedrm only has one bathroom. The 3 bedrm has 2 bathrooms. For 2 days we can manage with one (I hope..lol) It's not a bunk-bed suite, is it? Not a bunk bed suite Where will your kids sleep? We are planning on putting my ds and their ds in the semi private bedroom. It has two double beds and if they want to share a bed that is fine. Do you feel comfortable enough to room with this family? Yes, we get along well. And for the amount of time you spend in the room it should be okay. We are not really planning on going to any parks. But we have seasonal tickets for WDW and I think the other couple may also. So if the kids have enough of the water or if it rains we can always go over to WDW |
