Question on Southwest and Magical Express

I know I read somewhere before and can't find my answer.

We are flying Southwest. I know they will take our luggage to the resort. When we are returning home, I know we cannot check the luggage at the resort, we must bring it to the airport, but...

I read on a previous post something about the SW terminal being far away from where ME drops you off and it's a good idea to get help with bags... but how/what?

Re: Question on Southwest and Magical Express

We usually fly SW and there were skycaps at the ME bus when we got off at the airport. It was so nice because there were 8 of us and tons of bags. He even walked them out to the curb and checked them in there so we didn't even have to wait in line. We were off the bus and done with our luggage in less than 10 minutes, maybe closer to 5 minutes.

okay, I'm being dumb. What is a skycap? Someone who takes your luggage? what if there is a problem w/the luggage? How would you know?

We have had the same experience on our last couple flights. Definatly worth getting a skycap. I don't remember it being too far away from ME, but I know it would have been a lot of work loading/unloading and manuvering on the elevator, etc. It was much nicer getting someone to help out.

Yes, a skycap it someone that helps out with luggage. You stay with the skycap the whole time so there shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Question on Southwest and Magical Express

okay, thanks.... I know we'll have 3 bags going down, but you know those totes you pack at the bottom of the bag... well, they may be full for the trip home. We are allowed 3 bags each plus the carryon with Southwest!

A skycap is a person who helps you with your luggage. I don't see how there would be a problem with the luggage because we were with him/it until it was checked. My DH walked with him and they got it checked in together.

Re: Question on Southwest and Magical Express

its not that bad really- just figure that if you are dropped at one end of a long hallway that you have to go to the other end of the hallway. Its not like you are going to and from and in and out of all sorts of places with all your bags- we have never had an issue with it being too long and we have bags for a family of 6

Same here, except its four of us. We have never had a problem either. Our bags all have wheels, so we each grab one and roll away.

Thanks woohoo. I can handle dragging my own suitcase, but I thought I read before it was really far and a problem. Didn't want to get DH in a frenzy, if you know what I mean.

Re: Question on Southwest and Magical Express

its not that far at all- there is a longer walk from the terminal to the ME than the dropoff to the ticket counters. Its really not a long walk- they drop you off somewhere in the middle and the ticket counter is on the very end- that is all.

Re: Question on Southwest and Magical Express

I agree, I didn't notice that it was all that far to walk, even if we had taken our own luggage.

$1 per bag is our rule of thumb.
