Park Hours for May 2002

We are vacationing to Disney in May and the Disney site still hasn't posted park hours as of April 8. Do you happen to know what they might be. We are traveling with 4 kids under the age of 7, and it would be nice to know ahead of time some basic schedules. Of course, last time in 2000 we ended up in Magic Kingsdom 6 out of the 7 nights we were there. WDW here we come!! :D

Sandy, welcome to DisneyCentral. Hours for May, and June by the way, have been released, but for some reason, they haven't been posted on the website. What dates are you going? I'll let you know what the hours are.

WELCOME!

I bet there're reconstructing and extending some of the hours because of the huge pop lately! :) One can only hope. I'm tired of the Magic Kingdom closing at 6PM.

I consider that MK closing at 6 PM is a good thing, it usually means considerably less crowds. Disney is very good at knowing almost exactly how many guests to expect on each day. If the crowds are going to be light, they close at 6 PM since the lines won't be too long during the day, and everyone is ready to leave by 6. I have never been when MK has been open later than 7 PM, and I am thankful for that. If Disney sees additional people coming during during a certain time, they will change the opening hours and you will see it open til 8 or 9, but you won't like it because that will mean that the park is more crowded. It looks like you picked a good week to go, I'm sure you'll enjoy it only being open til 6.

dern Mickey your right !!!!! Thanks for pointing this out!!!!! I always used the EE days before to determine which parks would be the crowded one ..so we avoided that park. so Now I will make a note of those days that it closes at 6 pm .. actually I did kinda think those days would be nice to enjoy the AKL ..since this is our first time staying there :)

mK closes at 6? how can you even see anything in that short amount of time? I'm sure the hours will be much more extended when I go this summer. I hope so or I will be very disappointed.

oh yeah the hours are better over the summer months .. and the heat is worst :D I will say the one thing I do like about going in June is the late hours the parks are open specially MK. You really have to take a break from that heat and come back in the evenings .. even for a texan, it can be a little too hot :)

Our average trip to WDW is nine or ten days. The majority of those days we go to MK in the morning, when there are usually no crowds. We will stay until sometime between noon and 2 PM, depending upon how crowded it is getting. We then head back to the room to go swimming or nap, and then head over to EPCOT or MGM for the evening. One morning we will do AK, but the rest are at MK. So, it doesn't matter when it closes if we are gone by two each day. We have no problem seeing everything. In fact, the waits for the main rides are less than ten minutes, so we don't spend a bunch of time waiting in line.

By the way, the hours in June are released, and MK it is open until 9 or 10 each night, same for MGM.

Just a small side note. I just got back from Epcot, and Future World was open until 9:00. Living Seas, The Land, Universe of Energy, And Body Wars close at 7:00. It was an nice 3 hour stay! :)

It was semi-crowded! (by my standards)

I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy the Magic Kingdom so much better at night. It feels more laid back. I guess I'm more of a night person!

Secret Formula

Mickey pointed out how accurate Disney forcasts attendance. I read somewhere that they have a "secret formula" which is based on how many attractions you can do in a day. So, theoretically, no matter the hours, you should be able to do the same number of attractions unless the park is super crowded or super uncrowded.
