What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
DS(11) has a new camera that he's going to use over and over and over and over . . . .
And he has his wallet with Disney dollars and other spending money. What's a good option for kids to carry their own stuff with them so they don't have to ask us to dig in the backpack every two minutes? Pockets are NOT an option for him! Something safe, nothing cumbersome. Nothing he has to carry in his hands and put down and leave somewhere like the four hundred thousand gloves he's lost. Any thoughts?

I would suggest a small backpack. Our stroller days are numbered, so we'll have to deal with this issue on our next trip. Good luck!

Re: What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
My daughters both got cute hip packs (dd val refuses to allow anyone to call it a fanny pack!) They had pirate and cars ones at the gift shop. It worked well for my daughters. They carried their cell phones, park tickets, pins and cameras easily in the packs. I didn't have to worry about they leaving they behind on a ride because they didn't have to take them off like they would a backpack.

FANNY PACKS RULE!!! LOL
I think that a pack that they dont have to take off to get the things they want are the best solutions- if they have to take a backpack off they will lose it somewhere- if its a bag that they can get into without taking it off they wont put it down somewhere or take off for a ride etc....

Re: What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
All of my guy friends are into those drawstring backpacks. They're really thin, so they can just wear them all of the time. That's what I carried to wdw, last week, but I did take it off on the rides (I had a lot of stuff in mine, though). Get a cool brand like UnderArmor, Nike, Adidas, Quiksilver, etc. and he can be just like the "big boys."

Re: What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
Our kids used fanny packs until they were about 11 or 12 years old...DS suddenly got the idea that they were just not cool, so he would load down his pockets or travel very light. DD used a FP longer, but then crossed over to the string backpack. Since he's close to "that" age, maybe he would like a camera case that will hold his wallet too. You can get them in many styles, sizes etc. He can strap it to his belt or some have a clip or strap so he won't leave it on a ride or set it down somewhere.
Just last week I saw a little case on a D-ring that would clip to a belt loop. I think it's meant to use with a cell phone, but depending on the size of the camera, etc maybe you can find one that can accommodate your needs.

Re: What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
I'm sure my kids would be saying the same thing...but with an 11yo I feel I would be trying to keep up with his stuff ALL day long and it would just be easier knowing that it's attached to him in some way. At almost 14yo, if they lose it..they're now replacing it themselves, so however they want to carry their gear, it's their business.

Re: What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
What do my kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks? ME! or Rlander! We seem to do all the carrying. We put everything in a backpack. Since my kids are older now, no longer babies, they require less. We mostly carry water bottles, camera, hand sanitizer, sun block, only what we absolutely need. They know if it doesn't fit in the backpack they have to carry it. |

Sounds like something I should look into. Being of the older generation, I have no clue what a drawstring backpack is!! I'm on my way to check it out. I hope I come up with something good when I google it . . . Thanks!

I use the drawstring backpack at Disneyland!! I love it you can put a ton of stuff inside and it opens up nicely so you can see everything inside!

Re: What do your kids use to carry "stuff" around the parks?
I thought about htis thread last night... I am going to try to come up with a way to NOT carry a purse or bag this next trip. I don't want to have to get into the long bag-check line this time, if I can help it! Maybe take a tiny camera, and a money clip with cash and ID in it, so I can fit everything into my pockets.
