Disney buying back Disney Store

For those of you who dont already know, the Walt Disney Company is buying back the Disney Store retail chain. I was informed that 2/3 of the stores will be closed and only the major ones for certain districts (areas of each state) will stay open, I do believe mine will remain open because we are the leading store for the entire Central Valley of CA. I think this is exciting because ever since it was taken over by Childrens Place the stores have gone staright into the ground and many Disney CM things were taken away, this is a blessing for all Disney Store CMs, Im excited!!

Re: Disney buying back Disney Store

Wow, I always wanted to work for a Disney Store when they were owned by Disney, so I could get the employee discounts. Maybe I should go apply!

Re: Disney buying back Disney Store

We only have one around here and I sure hope it stays open. Where else am I going to get my Disney Dollars if it closes. I am glad to hear Disney is taking them back.

That's exciting news!! I sure do miss the old Disney store. Sure hope they start bringing back more adult items such as watches and clothing. Be nice if they would start carrying the antenna toppers too.

WOW~~I'm soo happy to hear that!!! I agree, when Childresn's Place took over EVERYTHING went down....All I ever see are mugs, cups and tons of "goodies" for little kids and some others for kids 2-8..... Hope they DO bring back more adult clothes!!! I wish they would take over again here in Michigan....

Re: Disney buying back Disney Store

Maybe I should get a part time job at one of the Disney Stores in my area.

Do part timers also get the same CM perks? That would be GREAT!!!!!!!

As long as you work there other than just the holidays you will get the same perks as casual cast members (what I am, Im a "full time" CM but only work a couple of days a week) and the rule for free tickets applies as the same with the resorts, to get free tickets for friends and family you have to work with the Store/Company for 3 months, once 3 months is up you get the free tickets, etc. And now that Disney is buying the stores back more CM discounts and goodies, etc will be brought back like before. In my store we are already featuring Adult Clothing, accesories, watches, etc, going back to more traditional Disney way.

This is so cool! Especially for you!

What other CM discounts do they offer? As for the free tickets...do you only get a certain amount per year? What about Disney Room Discounts?

All stores are CLOSING? Or are some closing, and some remaining open under New (old) ownership?

Yea, all the Disney Stores are owned by Hoop Retail Inc (Childrens Place) excluding World of Disney in San Fran, Manhattan and the Disney Resorts. As What I was told by our District Manager was that all the smaller stores are to close or remain under Hoop Retail and the larger district stores are to be transfered back to the Walt Disney Co.

Re: Disney buying back Disney Store

oh that's great to hear that disney is buying back their stores. i haven't really been in a disney store in a long time so i guess i'm lucky to not have watched it go straight to the ground at Children's Place expense. best of luck to disney in getting their stores back and bringing back that good ol' disney charm to its customers.

Re: Disney buying back Disney Store

This is great news! Our local store had become such a dump, that Sharon stopped going. They need to bring back the charm of the original stores, and bring back a compete line of merchandise (even for the big kids!). Of course, this will be more dangerous to the credit card.
