Stroller help??
I am trying to figure out what we are going to do about the stroller situation. I am looking for ideas and input...please.
I am bringing our stroller for our 18 month old. My 3.5 year old is pokey but likes to walk. My 5.5 year old is die hard. She would rather crawl than sit in a stroller. But she may get tired by the end of the day. Should I bring an umbrella stroller for the 3.5 or just rent on when we get in the parks? Bringing our double is out of the question. BTW, my 3.5 is about 47 pounds and almost 43 inches tall. Big and tall boy.

I would go ahead and bring the umbrella stroller if it were me...
My 6 & 9.5 year olds were exhausted by the time we left the parks and took over the baby's stroller. Funny...all she wanted to do was get out and walk and all we wanted to do was get in and be pushed!!! ;) |

YOu could rent a double at the parks. This would give the extra seating when needed and also storage when not in use.

You have to consider that in August it is going to be really hot and humid. If the umbrella stroller isn't too big I would bring it. We have 3 DC's. DD's are 6 & 4 and DS is 4. We always rent a double stroller because eventually they get worn down and we can actually fit all 3 in the stroller at one time. I like the fact that you can show you receipt at another park if it on the same day and get another stroller. Also, when it is hot you don't want to be lugging around allot of equipment

We have two DS and my oldest is quite big for his age. We always rent a double stroller and when they aren't in it we strap our camera bag and back pack into it. :) :)

I would definatly recommend renting the double stroller.
That way you are safe in case the older 2 get tired...you know they will get tired... :) Even if the 5 yo doesn't use it, you can at least put things in it, like bags from purchases or diaper bag, etc.

I would bring an umbrella stroller. We bought a couple of cheap $15 ones before our last trip and they held out fine with our 4 year old 40 pound son and 5 year old 45 pound neice plus piling on backpacks and other stuff. Renting strollers can get expensive and it is nice to have the extra strollers for the airport, downtown Disney, etc.

I'm not thrilled with the rental fee for a double stroller. Maybe, I will just rent a single when one of them gets tired and they can switch. As big as my DS is, my DD is a peanut. She is two years older but 10 pounds lighter.
Someone told me about an umbrella stroller that has a strap and a carrying case. Anyone ever heard of this??

Ariellebelle, I have seen the stroller you are talking about, I can't remember where I saw it :( I think maybe it was Babies R Us...
I would try online with BRU and see if they have it. Sounds like a great idea!! Good luck :)

If you took an umbrella stroller, and decided it wasn't enough, then you could always rent a single stroller there at the park also. But you'd both be stuck pushing.
I would probably want the double stroller, but that's just because my luck if I were to have two kids (I only have one) they'd fight over who got to sit down.

I know you said your double is out of the question, but I highly recommend it! My DSs (2.5yrs and 36lbs -- just turned 4yrs and 57lbs!!!) used our double and it was a GOD send. Especially, between the parks and parking lots and at our hotel where you can't use the rentals!! At night when they were tired and you're trying to get back to your room is when you REALLY need the stroller. We make the big guy walk as much as possible but he still needed to get in on occasion. Plus it holds everything else (good luggage cart at the airport!!)!! However you go, you'll need to beef up your arm strength!! Pushing that much weight for extended periods of time is very taxing!!! Expecially trying to steer in crowds when one kid decides to fall asleep in a lean and you're constantly overcompensating on the other side!!! Good Luck!!!

Buzzmommy,
Our double is kinda old and bulky. It is a Graco, but small wheels and hard to push. When we went to DL two years ago, we brought an umbrella, but still rented a single. It just looked comfy and easy to manage. I think I will end up renting a single as needed. Thank you gang!!:D
