Re: my Disney fear just came true

I think doing WDW in the rain is one of the BEST times to do it!!!!!!

Buy some rubber shoes like everyone else said and a Poncho and hop in line for all the rides!!! When it rains in FLA is usually doesn't just rain..it pours for about 20 min. Most people go home or wait in line for indoor shows etc..that will take a long time. We do the opposite!! Hop in the ride lines (Esp. ones like Splash that is indoors and out) most outdoor rides will only close if it's lightening.

Re: my Disney fear just came true

I agree with Bella- rain at Disney makes no difference at all- and we usually find the mornings are bright and sunny then the clouds roll in, it rains early afternoon (but its warm rain, soooo different to cold hard English rain now that is miserable) and then it brightens up again- dont let the thought of rain spoil your fun- it really wont.

DITTO! Take ponchos (buy them at home, they are much cheaper; WalMart sells them for 92 cents!) and plastic shoes (flip flops or crocs) and enjoy!! Not even rain can dampen Disney. And as most have said, it's usually in and out in less than an hour.

Great attitude to have, after all it is Disney and we should all have High-igh-igh Hopes!

I just added ponchos to my list of things to buy at home . . . Thanks for the post.

And the best thing about Walmart ponchos is you buy a bunch of them and when the sun comes out- just toss it away! They're nice and compact before you open the package, but once opened up & used, they're just bulky wet plastic that you're glad to get rid of.

Re: my Disney fear just came true

Just to echo others, we schedule a rest day on our trips. BUT if we see rain in the forecast for the day, we head to the parks because people will stay away in droves.

On the other hand, do DisneyQuest on nice days, when everyone else will be outdoors.

I LOVE going in the rain. The lines go down because of the whimps who don't like to get wet. Bring some ponchos and revel in the wet!!

Re: my Disney fear just came true

I used to let the rain get me down until I actually experienced the rain and it's not bad at all. It's a great time to get something to eat, shop, see a show or go on the indoor rides. I'm not a big fan of the ponchos; they make me feel really sticky and humid but for a lot of people it works. Don't worry about the weather, you can't change it just enjoy the fact that you will be at WDW!!

I agree with this 100% - Disney when it rains is AWESOME!!! The heavy shower will scare away lots of people, and by the time it stops half an hour later, you have much much shorter lines for everything!

Splash Mtn is particularly awesome when it's raining...people automatically think "ew it's raining, I don't want to ride that" but it's so perfect! The line gets much shorter and you barely notice the rain because it doesn't feel any different from the rest of the "wetness" you get on the ride!

Don't worry, you will have a wonderful trip, rain or not. In Florida I have never experienced rain for longer than 30 minutes at a time - no joke! And even if it's cloudy or ominous, that's a blessing...less beating sun and it has the potential to make more people stay indoors.

Re: my Disney fear just came true

When people see rain they run away, abandon ship and head for home so its a great time to do some of your favorite rides, and then when the sun comes back out, you'll have done your rides so can go hit some shows :) We survuved serious terrential rain in HS one time, ponchos and a smile and your ready to go!
