Too many WDW Pictures

I just recently got back from Disney. I took close to 150 Digital Pics. 50 of those I got developed for albums and friends to see. Now, based on what I normally do... I didn't even try to take pictures this time. Last trip I took 300 pictures and developed about 150 of those. I always seem to find so many things to take shots of that I never have before. There always seem to be new special things like Millenium Celebrations, Food & Wine Festivals, Star Wars Weekends, etc.. that I end up taking way more than I plan. Not to mention I find new typical things every time I visit. Now, what I'm wondering, am I like the typical fan, or am I a bit snappy happy when I go to Disney World? I can only imagine how many shots I'll have when I go to CA in 2005, especially knowing I may never go back (or at least it will be a long long time).

Don't even get me started on my Video Recording. This trip I did pretty good with only an hour of footage, but the past two trips I came back with 4 and 6 hours of footage accordingly. Of course those trips were 9 days compared to 4 on our recent trip, but still... I think I may have a problem. :laugh

I don't think that is too many at all. I took 4 rolls (96 pics) this past March and I wish I had taken a whole lot more! There are just too many "Kodak" moments at WDW to take advantage of. Video on the other hand, we didn't take ours this time because I really didn't want to lug it around the parks but I wish I had.

I am a picture-a-holic as well. We always take at least 1 roll a day. I seem to have slowed down on the video though. I find that if I am video taping I miss things. My wideo camera is 8 years old and you still need to look through the viewer to see what you are taping. I am looking into a new camera with a flip out screen.

Everyone should get a digital camera. Besides seeing whether the picture you took looks right or not, you can take up to 800 pictures at a time with the right size storage card. Plus you can zoom or crop your pics, or even reduce red eye before developing. Plus you can save straight to a CD and so many more things. No worrying about film exposure, in the airports, or Black Pictures that you spent money to develop. I take a lot more pictures now that I have my Digital camera. I would never carry enough film with my 35mm and they kill you on film costs at the parks. :bandit

I know. I really need to bite the bullet and upgrade to a digital camera. This would also mean that I would probably have to upgrade my PC as well. For some reason I cannot justify the expense right now. I have been looking for new equipment for a while now and hopefully will be making the purchases soon.

We took 13 rolls this past trip! I just can't seem to convince the DW to upgrade to digital. She is to comfortable with bringing the rolls in to the same place year after year.

Can you bring a digital memory card "in" somewhere to be developed/printed? Or do you have to do it one your own PC?

Thanks!!

Three options:

1. Take them in to any Wal-mart, Drug Store, etc... and have them developed by inserting your media into one of their machines and picking the pictures you want to print. (Not sure if they all are capable yet, but they are getting there)

2. Print them yourself.

3. Upload them to a place where you can keep them, share them, and order copies any time you want. I do this with Searsphoto, but many other places offer this service. The price per pic is a little higher, but you are not printing unwanted pics, you are not buying film, and usually discount codes come out to save more money.

I'm hoping to upgrade to digital one day! Do digitals require any special equipment for your PC?

There may be some minimal system requirements, but the Software and connection cables will come with the camera. Our camera came with AV wires too so you can do a quick slide show on the TV. I assume others have this feature. Most cameras come with a recharger and rechargeable batteries too. Perhaps the major drawback is how fast the camera sucks power from a battery.

Oh WDWFan you just brought back the memory of my 1st WDW visit in 78. My dad stopping us every 5 minutes to take pics and my brother, sister and I (ages 10, 6 and 4) getting so mad, cause all we wanted to do was ride the rides!!!!! My dad had a Nikon with a portrait lens, so every pic was a huge deal, we starting calling him Cecile B. DeMille during that trip!!! It's a wonder the 3 of us even take pictures now :)

Flash forward to the present, and I take pics of my kids all the time. We also take tons of WDW pics when we go, and we also need to upgrade to a digital.

Thanks for asking that questions Buzz, that was one of my questions I wondered about.
WDWFan thanks for all that great info on the digitals, DH wants one and keep putting him off, but I think it is time :)

Well, I'm not the best to ask for advice, I got a lower end Digital (hoping for an Opical Zoom Digital someday). It's still very nice and serves my purposes. It is a Sanyo. My takes Video and Stills, although I have never tried Video (it eats room fast). You can also save five seconds of sound with a picture if you want, so you could attach it to a Picture on the net and things like that, or get a few seconds of sound when showing the pics on TV or computer. Again, I have never tried the option.
