Photopass...opinions please!

I have been thinking and rethinking Disney's PhotoPass for the last couple of weeks. I have been on the PhotoPass website and it doesn't really give me the info I am looking for: price, etc. I am probably looking in the wrong place, but I need some help locating it.

Also, I have heard mixed reviews recently about PhotoPass. It is just DH and I going on this vacation, so I thought it would be a good way for us to have some photographs together. But, if I am paying a lot for the photos, I would love to have more than one or two which has been the biggest complaint I have heard as of late...lack of photo ops due to lack of photogs. We probably won't be searching out characters and may miss some opportunity there. Do you think this is worth it for just the two of us?

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

I always look at the pictures when I get home and buy what I want then. I don't want to risk the pre-paid CD but we get as many pictures taken while we're as we can.

We go as a family of 4, and we never buy the photo's. We take our own, and have a fun time doing it.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

The only time we used photopass is for our honeymoon. Anything other time we ask the photopass people if they can take a picture with our camera. Most of them are willing to do that for you.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

We sometimes purchase a photo from the web site. But I always ask the Photopass CM to also take a picture with our camera.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

Do you know how much the PhotoPass CD is if you buy it after your trip? I head there was a $99 special if you prepay, but I couldn't find that anywhere.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

I thought it was still $99 but I my be wrong. I would worry about getting $99 worth of pictures. We've never even come close to that but we also don't work very hard either.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

I think Lovemysons said it was still $99.00.
Even if you pre-pay it, you're not obligated to actually buy it, if the pictures aren't nice or there are not enough of them to justify the price. They state right on their website that they'll refund the money up to so many days after your vacation has ended

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

I like them. They take some great shots. And we use the heck out of them. Everytime we see on we stop and get shot? no photo'd? We have a picture taken.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

This isn't related to the original question but my tip for Photopass is always take a picture of the back of your card with your own camera in case you lose it. Once you get home you only need the number on your card to log on and claim your pictures. I'm sure that's all Disney needs if you wanted to see your pictures before you leave the parks.

Re: Photopass...opinions please!

Thank you all for the valuable information.

DT: I don't know if I want to take that risk either. $99 seems high, especially if my DH is in a "no photos" mood. You'd think he was a celebrity or something. Have fun on your trip tomorrow. How exciting!

Daisee: That website link helps A LOT. It's more informative than the official site.

Yankee, and Nastory: I never even thought of asking them to take a picture with my own camera. Great suggestion!

Dopey: That's a great option! That makes for an enormous amount of peace of mind if I do decide to prepay.

Boss: That is why I am so on the fence. I really want some great pics this trip. However, I have heard lately that the photographers are hard to find or they are grumpy when you ask them to take a picture. Have you had any such experiences?
