Well, we arrived back to NJ late last night. We had a wonderful relaxing trip.. It rained on and off but had a couple days of very hot weather. (I know its not Disney related but thought I would share with you guys.)

On Thursday, July 3rd we decided to leave at 11:30 p.m. instead of leaving at 4 a.m. on Friday, July 4th. We arrived at Chincoteague Island in Virginia on Friday, July 4th at 5:30 a.m.

We went to Bill's Seafood for Breakfast then we drove around.. Went to the beach on the Refuge to see the beach and to get our beach pass, then on the way out of the beach saw some wild ponies then stopped at the Refuge Inn to see the Wild Ponies that they have on their property.. After that we decided to go to the motel where we were staying at to relax.. Later that evening we went to the carnival since there was one going on and saw the 4th of July fireworks.

Saturday, July 5th.. Went to the Refuge and did the Lighthouse Trail.. Very awesome! Didn't climb the lighthouse though was very hot out and probably like an oven going up 196 stairs.. LOL.. Then after the Lighthouse Trail went to the beach and walked throughout the beach.. Later on we went shopping on Main Avenue and bought lots of goodies.. For dinner we went to Steamers.. A seafood restaurant.. My fiancee had all you can eat crabs and I had the all you can eat shrimp. Then we went back to the motel and just relaxed.

Sunday, July 6th.. was just a relaxing day for the most part.. Went swimming in the pool and went out to walk around and eat..

Monday, July 7th.. We went on the Assateague Explorer Cruise.. where they took us on a boat to see dolphins, birds, ponies etc.. Only saw a few birds and about 10 ponies on the cruise and a bald eagle. No dolphins.. I was not happy with the cruise because the cruise was suppose to last 2 hours and only lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes. After the cruise we went to the beach.. Very hot day.. The water was cold though and ofcourse got a very bad sunburn.. my lips got badly burned and got sun blisters.. YUCK!! For dinner we went to a little place called Sea Star (like the Earl of Sandwich). The sandwiches were delicious.. Then back to the motel to relax and watch tv.

Tuesday, July 8th.. Did not go back to the beach because we were badly sunburned.. we stayed at the motel til the afternoon and went to the Oyster and Maritime Museum.. Thank god we didn't go to the beach because it started to downpour.. We then went to Don's Seafood for dinner.. Was not too thrilled with dinner. So we left the restaurant and went to the Island Creamery for ice cream.. Now they have a traditional dish there called the round-up.. It's 5 big huge scoops of ice cream (about 10 scoops if you were to have it in NJ) and if you finish it all yourself they take your pic and post it on their wall there and their website.. Home I didn't get the round-up just my fiancee.. and he did finish it!! I just had 2 scoops (4 scoops) of mint chocolate chip on their waffle cone that they make there..

Wednesday, July 9th.. We went to the beach for a little bit.. then went on a wild refuse tour by car to see animals through the refuge.. We saw deer, geese, all different types of birds, and ponies. After that we stopped by the Refuge Inn to buy some stuff and to see their wild ponies one last time and fed them carrots.. Later on we went to Steemers again for all you can eat crabs and shrimp..

Thursday, July 10th went shopping in the morning and about 1 p.m. started to head home.. on the way home stopped at Ocean City, Maryland to see the famous sand scultures on the beach then headed on back home to NJ..

That's it for my trip.. I will try to post pics.. For some reason I'm having a little trouble posting them.. gotta crop them.

I was in VA last week and someone said that they have the pony swim from Chinquoteque (sp?) to Assateague on the 4th...you didnt mention it, so they must have been wrong. Do you know when they do that?

Thanks for the TR, I am from Maryland and LOVE Assategue and practically grew up in Ocean City, so it is good to hear word from home...

The Pony Swim is actually the last Wednesday in July. They swim from Assateague to Chincoteague and then they are auctioned off.. The swim is a total of 3 minutes. I think its awesome.. A lot of people told me that on the Maryland side of Assateague you can see lots and lots of ponies.. You gotta go down Assateague Road to see the Ponies in Maryland.. I will be doing that the next time I go to Ocean City, MD.
