croc wearers, please be careful ...

Two times this week, a child wearing crocs (or the equivalent) was injured wearing crocs while riding an escalator... Please be careful. I would hate that anyone's foot got hurt and they could not enjoy a Disney trip...

Yikes, I don't have children and I don't really wear Crocs outside of Disney parks but I hope no more incidents happen. Sounds painful!

I've heard of things like this happening on escalators...needless to say, I am SUPER careful with my kids if and when we are on escalators!

I use to work for a department store and we had several incidents with children and escalators. Every single instance occurred because the child was not being observed by the parent.

Although...I can't see why anyone would lose track of their child in an airport of all places.

i forget who it was, but they mentioned in their TR that they saw a croc stuck in the escalator belt at Soarin. just stuck straight up, with the toe part caught in the belt of the tram.

Ok, note to self, don't let DD go down the escalator unless Im watching her.. Thats ok, shes scared of the things anyway. She won't even step on one, me or DH has to carry her

I was always afraid of escalators when I was little too, my Grandmother worked in a department store where a little girl got the bottom of dress caught once and nearly died.

I totally understand your DD's nervousness.

Anyway, glad to hear everyone's keepin' an eye out.

My boys have worn crocs for a very long time, and we have never (knock on wood) had an incident on an escalator. However, I have seen many many children unattended or unsupervised on escalators, which I believe is the bigger issue. I happen to not like escalators very much either, so I am always super careful on them anyway.

Where we live, we don't have escalators & not very many elevators. So whenever we get to the BIG city, we are like kids. We ride the escalator and/or the elevators. Isn't that sad? I promise, I won't wear my crocs.

The video said the incident today was a sandal and not a Croc. Good reminder for all of us and the kiddos.

That was me. I didn't see it happen but it was scary enough just seeing the Croc sticking up out of the escalator. My son tries to 'ride' the off escalator instead of stepping off, it was a huge reminder for all of us.

There was a incident in our mall . . . where a toddler grabbed the outside rail and was dangling as she was carried up the OUTSIDE of the escalator. She was very high up, and screaming (thank God she didn't let go) when a mall walker an 80 year old man with two knee replacements, ran up the escalator and grabbed her and pulled her to safety.

The Mom was quoted in the article saying something like . . . I was so shocked as I watched her going UP the OUTSIDE of the escalator, I was frozen!

I try to avoid them . . . but my DDs love them . . . they also love the moving sidewalks at the airport . . . and are ALWAYS wearing crocs! I'll have to make sure they are super careful!
