Character Meals - best times to go?

We are planning our Oct trip and would like to do a character breakfast (probably Chef Mickey's) and a character dinner (probably the Crystal Palace). We would like to pick times to get as much interaction with the characters for my 3 grandchildren as possible. It will be their first trip and they will be 2, 3 and almost 4.
Any advice on the best times (early seating/late seating) to make the PS so that it may be less crowded? Any help would be appreciated.

graybill, based on our experience the later you go to breakfast at Chef Mickeys the better. Most people try and get in as early as they can ..so they eat and get out. we have always had late breakfast there, and ended up with the charactors coming around to the table at least 3 times and sometimes even more often. I have to say in fact there have been times that we could barely get a bite in between :)

Try to get the last lunch seating of 2:45 at Crystal Palace. The characters will be really plentiful then.

I agree, the later seatings are the best. I would like to reccomed the ice cream social also. It is in the Land pavillion at Epcot. It is usually not crowded and the children get a lot of attention. I have some wonderful photos of DGD there. It is a wonderful time to take a break and relax too. NOt as expensive as character meals with all the benefits.
