OKW and maybe other bus issues
I just read this in the allearsnet newsletter and thought everyone could use this bit of info:
"Jen Tesoriero shares: We just enjoyed a wonderful week at Disney's Old Key West. However, we wondered why we spent so much time (greater than 45 minutes on a couple occasions!) waiting for buses to take us to the parks. After inquiring (finally) with the concierge, we were told that if the bus filled prior to our stop at Hospitality House, the bus driver would automatically skip this stop and a bus would only stop when vacant. Our tip -- walk the extra three minutes to the Peninsular Rd. bus stop and enjoy an empty bus each time! "

I'll need to consult a map .............. and a compass that doesn't work - just cause it'll look cool.

There was a couple of no show bus incidents at POR this trip I wonder if maybe they are cutting back slightly?

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
I was thinking that they may have had full busses and just bypassed POR, just like they do at OKW

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
I will honestly say that this didn't happen to us ONCE at OKW, we used to Old Turtle Pond Road bus stop. The bus service was fast, consistant, and easy. ALTHOUGH, we had miserible bus experiences when staying at the Boardwalk. So much in fact that it was enough for Daniel to say he didn't want to stay there again. They STILL share the park buses with Boardwalk/Swan-Dolphin/Yacht-Beach. There were SOOO many times that buses didn't come because they filled up at the other 2 resorts first, if we DID get on a bus it was nearly always standing room only, and you just couldn't get to any park fast because of all the bus sharing.

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
I'll always maintain that buses at WDW are a crap shoot (sorry for the language). You never know whether you'll be lucky or not - and it doesn't matter what resort it is. Our longest waits for buses have been at WL and BWV and our shortest at SSR. It's just the roll of the dice.

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
We were at the Pennisular Road stop when we were there in June and I never saw this happen but I could see how a bus could fill up very early in the AM like this.

how do you spell unnessessary?) wait times for busses, maybe it would be wise to just head to the first stop they make ![]() We have never ever had problems with the busses, errrr....except for once where the bus took one hour on the road, going by Typhoon Lagoon 2x until we finally landed at our destination.

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
Personally, I'd never get on a bus at Hospitality House - just too much coming and going,

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
I agree with Llama, I think its a crap shoot. I've had varying degrees of bus service at different places.
We had absolutley no issues with OKW's bus service when there a few weeks ago. I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes at any time, and I almost always got a seat. I guess its always a gamble! |

Re: OKW and maybe other bus issues
I read that on there last night. That is not the case at all and don't know who told that person that. It was packed the week were there and we stopped at all bus stops...even if it was standing room, they stopped and told the next stop another bus was on it's way. They also had two buses running to each park. I'm sorry to say it but this person has bad information.
