Icon9 "Pushing Daisies" cancelled!

Baloo gave me Season 1 of "Pushing Daisies" in October, which was the first time I had seen it. And just as I had decided this was my new favorite show.... they cancelled it.

ABC pulls plug on 'Pushing Daisies,' 'Dirty Sexy Money,' 'Eli Stone' - Los Angeles Times

However, I am an overly optimistic and unrealistic thinker, and therefore I'm clinging on to this part of the article:

" 'I could read between the lines and interpret that the door could be open in the future, but I think that the gist of that is that we weren't going to be moving forward on ABC.' "

AND: "He also has begun thinking about turning his sweet fairy tale "Daisies" into a movie."

yay!! Hopefully they figure out a way to save some part of this show. It's really cute, and one of the most imaginative shows I have seen in a long time.

Any other fans out there in MB Land?

Hear hear. I'd love to see USA step up to the plate and pick this show up. I think it would be a good fit for them.

It's clever, well-written, funny and wonderfully original....which means I should probably just be thankful it ever found a home on a network at all.

Re: "Pushing Daisies" cancelled!

What a bummer! I love Pushing Daisies!!!

It is such a witty show. There is so much reality junk on TV these days, this was such a unique show, I am disappointed for sure.

(Also bummed about it being Boston Legals last season too)

Re: "Pushing Daisies" cancelled!

The promo shots are already out for the second season of Pushing Daisies so whats going on?? Devastated / confused!!

Dirty Sexy Money was a really good show aswell, Im bored of all these 'make me famouse for 15 minutes' reality shows, I mean who cares if Paris Hilton wants a new British Best Friend? Geez! Tv annoys me sometimes, give me back my hardcore shows that involve some REAL writing!!

Re: "Pushing Daisies" cancelled!

I am so sad to hear this! Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone are two of my favorite shows. I absolutely agree that I am sick and tired of "reality" TV. I understand those kinds of shows are cheaper to produce, but they just stink! I watch TV to escape, not to be a voyeur into someone else's messed-up life. Give me something where it takes talent to write, direct, act, etc., not some show where people whine and are mean to each other just for the sake of making a name for themselves.

Re: "Pushing Daisies" cancelled!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say I didn't like this at all. The promos here were polished and good and I for one, being a lover of all things American when it comes to tv, was really looking forward to this- but I felt it almost copied the format of other successful American tv shows and in particular Desperate Housewives. My daughter loved it and so did her friends, but not for me and I was not surprised to read here it had been cancelled- good concept though.

Pushing Daisies was really different (in a refreshing way). It is a stylized fantasy world, well written with compelling characters. It is a detective story with a sleeping beauty love story running under it all.

I hope that you get to see it someday. For us that are hooked there will be a lot of loose ends...my be...hopefully...USA network picks it up.

I don't see a similarity with Pushing Daisies and Desperate Housewives....but I can see that some people might not like the show – it’s a little quirky. I think the 1st season was much better than this year…but I still enjoy it (the colors and costumes are so vivid) It sort of reminded me of Dead Like Me...which was an awesome show, that I miss ALOT!!!

I fell in love with Pushing Daisies right away because of the way it is filmed....and the narrator is the same guy that does the books on tape for Harry Potter...and I love his voice and diction......

I'm sorry you didn't like it....but I have high hopes that another network will pick it up.

Second season is playing now, I believe. I refused to start watching Season 2 when it started in October-ish because I was still finishing Season 1 on dvd, and I was afraid something would get spoiled. Now I don't want to jump in mid-season, so I'm hoping they put Season 2 out on dvd too...

From what I heard, Season 2 did not premiere very well at all - not a lot of watchers. And there was something about Barack Obama playing his own 30-minute ad before the election, and most networks ran it but ABC didn't, so that took viewers away from PD...? I don't know. My friend told me that, so it may have gotten convoluted in the retelling... But anyway, lack of viewers is what I heard was the main reason for cancelling PD.

I really hope they wrap up the loose ends at the end of this last season. The friend I mentioned before has been watching since the show started and he'll just about lose his mind if they don't answer his questions.

Re: "Pushing Daisies" cancelled!

The similarity with DH and PD was the narration nothing else- it was promoted here on the premise it would be in the style of Tim Burton, and although quirky, for me Burton-esque it wasn't! I am also not a huge fan of Anna Friel. I did see two episodes but gave up after that- anyway, it wouldn't do if all our viewing likes and dislikes were the same.
