Benefits to Paying Early

Are there any benefits to paying off the FTP early?

The money is in the bank, earning us the intrest. I am just waiting until closer to the 45 day point to actually pay Disney.

I know there is the satisfaction of having the majority of the trip paid for, but is there anything I am missing out on?

Thanks!

Why should Disney have the money one day earlier than they require it? It should stay with you, earning interest for you!!!

No, you aren't missing anything. Disney will not give you any credit or anything else for paying early. They won't even send out your paper work early, so there really is no advantage, other than knowing that it is paid for.

If you pay by the Disney Visa card, the benefit there would be that you would have access to your points sooner and can take them with you.

I tried to explain the Disney Visa point thing to my DH. He thought I was crazy to want a new card just to get a few dollars back and insisted I stick with the super low rate, no fee, high limit no balance card that we have has for years.

I know someday I will appreciate his money saving/investing/paying cash habits, like when we can retire comfortably...years from now.

I think the Disney Visa has no annual fee, plus, we pay it off at the end of every month. Paying credit card interest of any kind defeats the point of investing in the first place, according to my anal retentive accountant husband. Using a card to it's maximum benefit (aka: don't carry a balance and use the rewards) is what he calls 'income.' We've so far 'earned' seventy dollars in dream rewards using that system. (granted, I paid off my surgery using the card, which was a chunk of change)

I believe one of the benefits of the Disney Visa card is that if you charge your vacation on it, you don't pay interest on the money spent.

It's interest free for six months only, and you must charge a package on it. I'm an AP holder and do only room only, so that lovely little benefit is not for me. :( I'd rather take the reward dollars anyways. They are soooo pretty!
